I had the wirring sound which is typical to many on here......and now all I have is fourth gear.

I have a spare transmission which I would like to rebuild before pulling the current tranny. Even though I have seen many suggestions to go to a shop, I am of the opinion that any "scary" job is not that bad with the right information and tools - plus I really have all the time and patience necessary.

I have found, by search, the Mazda MX-5 Miata Enthusiasts Workshop Manual by Rod Grainger as being highly suggested but I wanted to know if somebody on here had completed a write-up on how to perform a transmission rebuild for an S4 / S5 car.

Any info, tips, hints, tricks will be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
