I need some help! What did I break?
I need some help! Today I was working on the car and noticed that one of the actuators was stuck. I sprayed some lube on it and tried to loosen it. I thought I was being gentle, but apparently I do not know my own strength. I managed to shear the elbow that connects to the actuator rod, right out of the socket. The metal actually broke! I don’t even know what this part does. Can someone tell me how I can fix the mess I have caused. Also someone please tell me what this part does (I understand the concept of the actuator, rather I need to know what it controls in the intake). My book apears to show it connecting to an "auxiliary port valve." Is this correct? If so, what does it do? Please see the attached pictures of the broken part, and diagram. Thanks for your help.

ok. this happened to me too when i was doing my rebuild, one was stuck and i tried to loosen it but it broke.
what that is is the shaft that goes through the lower manifold, the actuator turns it. it is connecten to the sleeve for the 5th or 6th port that it opens.
it will not hurt anything at all if you leave it in there. except your power. it will hurt your high end if the port is stuck closed, or your low end if it is stuck open.
if you want to fix it you probably have to take apart the whole intake and take the lower intake manifold off in order to get the rest of the shaft out. ALL the shafts from the 86-91 models are the same --the actuators are different though-- if you can get the shaft out somehow without taking the lower manifold off then you can just put a new one, and you are the man.
good luck, go grab one off a junk yard car
