memorable???? Man, that is putting it mildly

Don't do this trick as you'll have to change your trousers afterwards.

I can tell you the date and the truck that I tried that trick on. It was 1980....March Friday afternoon. A 1964 Ford F-150................

Have you tried to push-start it yet as previously suggested? If you got the timing, the fuel and the spark that should work just fine. Sometimes push-start is the only way to get it running.

Ok I may be just shooting it out my *** right now so please excuse me If I sound really retarded. This hasnt happened to me on a 7 so I dont know if it is possible.

When I did the rebuild on my 3.1 v-6 it had spark fuel, good compression and crancked over good. still no fire I worked and worked on it and othing. Until I happened to look at the throttle body. It was completly closed with no way to get any air into the engine. No + everything else = no start. Adjusted it and boom fired right up.

I know it was on a piston engine...and it sounds like a totally stupid thing to suggest. Flame now if I am a complete retard. but hey its almost always a little thing like that hangs people up.

Check/replace your main/egi fuses as necessary... also check your "engine" fuse inside the car on the driver's kick panel. Check your fuel pressure after the filter with a pressure gauge. Check for a huge vacuum leak.... Try wiring you a fuel cut off switch (search on here) to get this thing started. Pull/push start it. I'm exhausted.

I just couldn't stop laughing when I read that. But your sure the truck had spark right??? LOL.

You should try it with and MSD coil on there...now that was a hair-raising experience.

NOTE: Really folks, don't shock yourselfs. If you must, have an assistant hold the wire and you crank. ;-)

Wire up a fuel cut switch. This car just sounds like it's crazy flooded. . Wire up a switch and I bet it'll solve the problem

Thats a good thought, but the car will still start with it disconnected, it just wont continue to run.

When I first tried to start my freshly rebuilt motor, it refused to start until I messed with the throttle, and eventually, just flooring it and keeping it floored got it to start. Give it a shot if you haven’t already.

Also - I have 3mm RA seals I got from a friend for cheeeeap, and my car now starts fine, so don't think they are an issue.

^^^No, just make sure that the large black rubber tube that hooks your throttle body to your air filter is in place. you don't have to have the air filter there but you do need the thing that was located at the end of the black tube to be there. There is a wire on your fire wall with a green connector ( correct me if I am wrong as to where the wire originates) on it that needs to plug into the bottom of the black rubber thing.......that is the AFM.

It should start without it hooked up. The way it was explained to me was that when you're trying to start it, the fuel pump is running, and it doesn't care about the MAF. As soon as you go from the start position to the "on" position, it switches to the MAF. If it were unplugged, it would then die. So I don't *think* that's your problem, but i'm not 100% on that.

You might want to open your maf up and see if any of the soddering came off of the little connections by the gauge inside, when i put a new engine in my 88 vert i couldn't get it started and drove my self crazy trying to figure it out, and it ended up being the maf but instead of buying a new one all i had to do was resodder the connection, worth a look

just use a flat head screw driver and on the side of the maf right there at the air box or if your open element right after it there is a little prob 3"x3" black plate with epoxy going around it and just pry it up, cause it did sit for 6 yrs so vibration could have broke the connection

i've had an accident with my rex and after this crash the car won't start.... it wasn't running for one second

i've figured out that my MAF was damaged (maybe the flapper door was bad?)...
so i've installed another one and the car started right away... so i think it could be the MAF... but first, try to pushstart the damn thing and double check all things mentioned here... maybe you have a rx7driver near your location who will borrow you his MAF for some beers to try it

That all looks fine. As long as no wires are completely un-attached, or the prongs are touching each other, it'll be fine. I'd try the pull-start..pushing may not work. With Tofuball's T2, it took driving in circles (in first, I think) for something like an hour until it finally would run. Just a thought...Know anyone with a truck?
