I Need Help Now!!!!
I drove my 7 to take my brother to his dads today and it started to overheat. I pulled over let it cool and then eventually had to pull the thermostat to make it back home. It is also leaking coolant from under the intake manifold. I did replace the inline coolant cap yesterday because the gasket on it went and ended up spraying antifreeze all over. I need help with this now!!! The car also has a bucking/backfiring issue over 3000 RPMS.
1) You may want to ask a question, not just state the problem.
2) Post it politely and not in a demanding tone. This will get you a better response.
3) If your leaking coolant from under the intake manifold you most likely have a cracked coolant hose. Find the leak, replace the hose. If its coming from the block itself you have a blown coolant jacket seal. Which equals a rebuild.
4) Hesitation at 3k RPM is usually a grounding issue. Check your grounds.

why is it leaking and overheating? it also hisses when the thermostat is in it and steams from under the manifold
also sorry for the demanding tone i just want to fix my car

Is it filled with coolant? If so does the thermostat work properly?
It leaks because you either have a busted hose or leaking gasket. It overheats because it either has low coolant, bad coolant, bad radiator, or a bad water pump.

Water Pump, Radiator, Coolant, and All hoses are good. It just started this after the upper cap gasket went yesterday
does anyone think it could be the intake gasket or something like that because that is where it hisses from?
does any one think i should check the intake gaskets?

Just one other question. My friend was hit in the left rear quarter of his rx 8 and he said if i can use it he will gve me the engine and all the electronics for it. Will this work in my 88 vert and will i need to mod anything other than the ECU and electronics?
Quick answer: No.
Long answer: Its possible but a pain in the ***. It requires quite a bit of fabrication and will cost more than its worth.
Only way your going to find the coolant leak is to go and find it. Find where the coolant is coming from and then report back.

coolant is leaking from under the intake. If your are looking at it the coolant comes fron over to the right under the intake area but i cant really see it because the intake is in the way but i can that there is fluid coming from there. i did rent the pressurizer that is how i figured that out
that is what i thought i will pass on that i would rather do a turbo swap anyways if i have to replace/rebuild the engine
if i had to rebuild should i put another s4 in it or should i go to an s5 and what are the advantages?

If you mean it's under the air filter or snorkel or air flow meter those aren't that hard to remove and put back later.
While driving it while it was like that was a very risky thing to do to the engine, I wouldn't assume it's blown just yet. www.aaroncake.net has a guide to check the cooling system. Leave the thermostat out for now in case it's bad. The thermostat helps cooling but it's not essential. And if your cooling is better without it then something's wrong with it. Engines and rebuilds are expensive, best to make sure first.
S5 engines do not drop into s4 cars easily. You'd have to redo the wiring, which gets crazy. It is not recommended. The s5 engine just has a little bit more power.
