If you are replacing with OEM size, you would only need new calipers if yours are bad. It is also cheaper if you do need to replace calipers to get rebuilt ones. As far as the drilled and slotted rotor thing, I know one thing... less mass = more of a chance that they will warp. The more mass a rotor has the better chance it has of withstanding warpage and heat. That is why when you resurface a rotor several times it is much more prone to warp.

Although there is a marginal increase in cooling, most of it is just hype. Good vented rotors cool just fine. As for gas buildup that you might also be hearing about... almost all brake pads now do not generate much gas even when heavy braking is going on. The drilled rotors are a holdover from times past when the brake pads did generate lots of gas and a thin film was formed between pad and rotor causing a loss in braking efficiency. It is mostly for show nowadays.

How do you feel about the slotted rotors? As I understand it they brake better, remove brake dust and wear through your brake pads faster.

I know people say they are alot of hype but Porsche and Ferrari both use them on their cars and they won't use anything that is just hype on their performance machines.

Buy them, try them, let us know if you can tell.
I bet you can't.
