I need answers about the black box for the oil pressure guage

I read over a post about the little black box that works with the oil pressure sending unit or something. I really didnt read it good since it wasnt what I was looking for.

well , the pressure guage in my car doesnt work. former owner said it never worked.

I was looking around and I found that the little black box capacitor thingy wasnt there. I found the plug but no black box thingy. I looked on my other car and saw that it is there.

tell me more about this. I pulled the capacitor off my junk car but it didnt fix the gauge. I dont know if the box from the junk car was any good...

does this black box need to be grounded?

Mike

The gauge should work without it. It WILL work without it. It is a protective device for the circuit. Once more. It WILL work without the capacitor being connected. WILL.

Trouble shooting the gauge/sender? Download the fsm and the electrical section. Get a digital meter out.

Is there any voltgage at the senders wire?

I've never had one fail on ME. I'd say that if they fail it's because someone takes the senders connector and grounds it out for an extended period of time.
