3. Thou shalt learn thy lesson from Ferrari, from Lambourghini, from Porsche and from the Japanese rear wheel drive sports cars that thou purchacest. Thou shalt not disturb the 50:50 distribution by even 20 pounds, even if thou must move thy engine to the center of thy car, move thy transmission far from thy engine or use only a compact small engine in thy car. Thou mayest also add weights if thou musteth, to correct an engineering flaw. For thy car is a sports car and a track car, not a muscle car, which is an abomination to a ricer.

speed/power = money. What I want to know is where everyone is getting all this money from. I am 18. I work at McDonalds getting 8.50 an hour. I worked overtime all summer and just now got my FC. I already spent 140 for a starter and will need to spend more in the future just to keep her running. Mods are only a distant dream. I want to have money for mods, but in reallity, it will take some time. Where is everyone getting all of this money? Mommy and daddy?

i know how you feel. im only 20 and i got my first fc when i was 18... or 19... i was in the same shoes u were in. not saying u should do this but i would work but i would only eat 1 meal a day cause i looked at my credit card statments and the majority of it came from food and gas. aside from paying $500 for rent + bills etc. i would try to ride with my friends as much as possible to save money on gas etc. though i got paid a lil more than u...

annnndddddd now you know the answer to why everyone else has money.

I'm a full time student also, and you just have to have a list of priorities. Really make a list of your upgrades and have a little self saving account. Slowly add money to it when you have extra but never take any out. Slowly you will save up for parts and such. Like these happy people.

Personally, if you can, keep the car stock till after your done with college. Obviously I havn't because 1. I have A.D.D. coming out of my ears and I can't leave the rx7 alone (aka tweak) and 2. I had a couple bad engines/luck. I would go through college with a reliableish car, get rid of the 8.50$/hour (and btw WHEN did MCdonalds start paying 8.50?!) job, and make the big bucks. But I'm sure mommy and daddy have already told you this before.
Have a good day.

P.S. When doing your financial aid papers, tell them you have an RX-7 and they will put you down as having a dependent.

Im shooting for 350whp. My mods are as follows ( keep in mind some of the stuff wasnt necessary but I felt better and safer to get it).

BNR stage 4 s4 turbo with twin scroll removed
apexi avcr boost controller
stock ported engine (s5 TII)
1680cc secondaries
830cc primaries
kg parts fuel rails
all AN fittings and steel braided line from the firewall forward (expensive **** right there)
HKS FMIC
Tial 50mm BOV
walbro fuel pump (soon to be SX performance external pump)
Haltech E6X
Magnecor 10mm spark plug wires
Fluidyne rad
black magic E fan
Mazdaspeed grounding system
ACT 6 puck unsprung racing clutch
lightweight steel flywheel
all emissions removed and blocked off
3" exhaust system with no cats
and about 16psi of boost if the turbo can hold it

And to monitor it all
AEM wideband
pineapple dual EGT gauge
Blitz boost gauge
BLitz air temp gauge
autometer oil press gauge
autometer oil temp gauge
and a blitz turbo timer to let it cool down after a hard drive

I dont think Ill have a problem hitting 350whp with a good tune from Steve Kan which may be coming in a couple weeks .

BTW: BNR turbos arent to laggy at all and the wastegates are ported to somewhere around 39-41mm which is a very nice size for a stock wastegate.

Stay your butt in school and get a good job. Do what you gotta do to survive now and the dream of modding your car will come to you as long as you keep your head straight and motivated, either that or bring your *** to Vegas and work in a fine dining restaurant and make 300 a night in tips (thats what funded my car haha)

I thought the E6X was a boost controller? Why do you have two?

The haltech E6X is a complete stand alone engine computer thats able to tune timing and fuel as well as other little nick nacks . You can buy a boost controller solenoid and use one of the PWM outlets to control boost with the haltech via a laptop, but I wasnt really comfortable with controlling the boost on something thats controlling my fuel and ignition.. :/ The AVC-R is a "standalone" boost controller. Thats what its purpose is, and from what I hear is a good one. We shall see

The Mods youve got are almost exactly what ive been told to do. minor details is the only thing between identical setups, like i have a Greeedy FMIC, and Greedy BOV. But when it comes to the turbo i was either going to go with the stage 4 BNR or the Garrett To4E. Im definatley going with the Haltech e6x for my standalone system. Thats awsome that theres finally someone here whos got their car set up like i want mine to be. If its no secret how much $$$ did you dump ito all those mods?
P.S. My wife works at a high class restaurant up here it definitely makes bank.

To me personally its not very laggy, but you also have to remember, this is coming from someone who had a BIG *** T70 with a 1.05 I believe rear housing on a stock ported engine . Now THATS lag, haha. Id hit the gas and like 10 seconds later the turbo would spool.

Anyways, I have probably around 6k or a little more in my setup. Ive got over 1k in just aftermarket gauges, haha. I would have went with a bigger turbo, probably something like a GT4088 journal bearing turbo but its hard to find a aftermarket turbo manifold for my vert. The wastegate ALWAYS hits the extra bracing the vert ahs on the bottom of it. So unless I wanted to shell out 1k for a custom exhaust manifold I was stuck with the BNR, But im defintly happy with it for now.
