I Need 350 Rwhp!!!
So ive started gathering new parts for my rebuild, just wanted a little extra advice. I am shooting for about 350 rwhp, what size turbo (what would be a good brand) what type of fuel mods, internal porting and so on would i need to achieve a healthy 350 rwhp? So far what ive got is Greedy FMIC, Greedy BOV, Racing beat turbo back exhaust, Stage 2 Clutch, JDM tranny (w/only 30k on it) Cravenspeed boost controller, air intake.
I just dont want to go over the top but i also don't want to end up with a slower car than what im shooting for. Thanks Guys. AS MUCH DETAIL AS POSSIBLE WOULD BE APPRECIATED. |
read up on compressor mapping. You know your goal for horse power you can decide what rpm you what to reach that and have an idea what size/ style turbo you want. Million things on fuel. i would worry more about the fuel management. you should look into that too. Go with one that alot of people are using this will give you tech support im installing an emanage now, not much help out there. internal porting you good pass for a aggresive street port. ignition should be alright. I would agree with a front mount or a vmount. Not many people go with the water to air. but that top mount i dont think would like 350hp.

speaking of fuel management, is a stand alone system the one reall way to control that or is there some good pigyback system out there, cuz them damn things are flipin expensive.

theres a few piggy backs that can control fuel. some can control ignition to like the rtek and emanage i havnt got the emanage up and running so i cant give you much feedback not much tech help though. But stand alone is the way to go if oyu got the money.

"Street Turbocharging" by Mark Warner - more of the same If you want to really build and understand an efficient and reliable turbo system, you need to have some idea of whats going on behind the scenes, and what all the numbers and jargon mean. That being said, start looking at at least the GT3X series or similar anything less will probably be too small. Whats the car gonna be used for? The top mount won't handle that kind of flow by itself, and there are varying opionions on water/meth injection. If you're primarily doing drag racing and air to water unit would be suitable, but not so much for drift or road racing (or most street cars). A front mount is good for most street cars, but it blocks flow to the oil cooler and rad. so it's less than ideal on a road racer............................................. .................There are many factors to consider. |

yeah i think that Greedy Front mount ive got should handle the air flow issue just fine, but thanks on the advice on the book i will definatley tak a look. this is going to be used for a 87 T2.

This is the same power output I am looking for. So no one on rx7club has this power?
I too want this whp...also good response in the mid 3k range in 2nd and 3rd. I have a streetported motor. Dont want BNR....so.....what is a good turbo for the two of us. I am assuming he doesnt want a laggy turbo. |
Are you willing to spend the time and the money on a full turbo upgrade (manifold, custom downpipe, oil lines etc) or do you want a hybrid? There are many ways to get that kind of power. The least laggy would be a GT35r with a divided stainless manifold. the most laggy would be a BNR stage 3 probably

I personally dont see a big cost difference.
$150 manifold off ebay...reinforce it $30 extra piping to modify my existing 3.5" downpipe turbo. Seems like a no brainer if you know how to weld. Sorry for the thread jack....I just wanna know as well about 350whp and boost response. I didnt know any FC guys run the 35R |
Haltech E6X and a BNR Stage 4 and your golden. BNR Stage 3 or 4 would probably get you to around 300-350, depending on boost and other mods. Plus you wouldnt need a new manifold or wastegate, so you save $800-$1000. BNR have really good response and make boost early.

well my friend is going with a turbonetics t3/t4 hybrid turbo and a tial wastegate and a ebay from mount..and has a street port and im pretty sure that he will make well over 350 and he just bought a rtek ecu

Sorry, I am just wondering why do you need 350 rwhp? Now it could just be me, but I am putting down a somewhat smaller 184.5 rwhp down with my 4 psi'ed NA engine, and I consider it QUITE fun. Personally I want to turn up the boost to 7 or 8 once I get some fuel and FMIC BUT that is only because I have always wanted to have a 200 HP car. (technically with a 15% driveline lose I would be at 212 hp @ the flywheel but.... what evers. You do realise that 350 hp rwhp is 400 flywheel correct? anyways) I am just saying 350 rwhp IS A LOT for our small cars. A lot of fun I'm sure, but ya. Anyways I hope for the best on your project. :D I like to see different ways people get to the number they want.

internal wastegate is as reliable to what it can flow. When you start pushing more boost, you need to make sure the wastegate can flow that. When the wastegate cant releave the boost you get boost creeep. So an internal wastegate is realable to a certain point. Im not sure how safe it would be running at 350hp but hes upgrading the turbo i believe so it should be a problem.
