I love/hate my car...(Rant)
So I bought myself a 90 TII back in June and I love that damn thing, except now it needs some work. However, I'm too broke with school and bills to get it all done right now. I don't want anyone bitching at me about being irresponsible...the car is in fine shape except for a few small quibbles.
New Clutch- Tore this thing up at the Auto-X's and it was probably original. It slips bad only in 4th and 5th gear while boosting...so it's not terribly slipping, but enough to **** me off.
New Shocks- Blew my right rear shock while just driving around (I hit a small bump while chasing after a Porsche Boxster, heard a bang and now it squeaks like a SOB.)
New Plugs- After dumping a bunch of 2-Cycle in after getting an OMP code which turned out to be false, my car has been running slightly rough on a warm start. I'm thinking that the plugs are kinda worn and most likely fouled. I know this could be injectors too, but let's hope it isn't. I don't want to have to tear into the intake manifold to get the primaries out...
Brakes- The right rear pads vibrate in the caliper causing a squeak. I put some of that anti-squeal stuff on the back of the caliper and it worked for a couple of weeks, but I need to get back in there and apply more. Or get some Hawk Pads.
The biggest detriment to me getting the work done is that it's been about 20 degrees out every day lately and I don't have a garage to work in. I have the new plugs sitting in my room, but I'm a ***** and I don't want to go outside to get the plugs changed. Plus, I have a downpipe, midpipe, exhaust sitting in my room, but I need a Walbro fuel pump, FCD, and some other goodies before I can even think of putting this stuff on.
Someone post about their troubles with their RX-7 due to failure of a part or just plain laziness. At least I don't drive my car much right now, I've been driving my brother's Camry while I get the dough saved up for the shocks and clutch..

japanesemotorsport.com.au have a full set of KYB lowered coilovers for sale for $395 AU (so $200US) but the postage'd be steep to the States for a set of coilovers. You could bargain with them, they have been pictured for sale for ages, so i don't think they're gonna sell 'em anytime soon.
check in the parts forsale section.
as for wasting money, EVERY upgrade i seem to do goes either wrong, or ends up costing 5 times what i anticipated, so don't talk to me 'bout hating your car!
my 1900cc 2ndaries are ******* untuneable! $440AU to make my car WORSE!
Farkin bloody!

Thanks for the link. I can't imagine how much it would cost to ship them here, but that site is pretty rad. I like the wheels on there better than anything available in the States. I think I'm just going to get KYB adjustables from www.shox.com. or K2RD as it comes to about $100 US for a shock.
Not bad and my biggest beef with my car is it's sloppiness and lean in the corners. The clutch can wait a month or two, but I want to get my car handling better first

I've seen your website and posts on the Aust and US RX7 sites.
Thought you might be able to use the attached shots on your website to demonstrate the dangers of that damn rear steer system. The damage to the car (from hitting a tree backwards at about 100k) occurred when the rear steer kicked in at an inconvenient moment.
An eliminator kit from Mazdatrix was on my list - but too late now.
Regards,
Harry

Now before you all go and change your rear suspension bushes I though I would give a brief basic explanation on how the Dynamic Tracking suspension System works so you can make up your own mind...
The Dynamic tracking suspension system (DTSS) or "Rear Steer" was added to the 2nd gen RX-7. Basically the rear suspension geometry reacts to cornering "G" forces by changing the toe alignment on each wheel depending on the speed, loads, and body roll.
It is designed to "toe out" on initial "turn in" to assist turning (oh derr!) and help avoid mid corner oversteer.
The sensation the driver feels is the front wanting to steer into the corner, but is actually the rear steering to the outside of the corner. This all happens right when a sensitive driver is expecting the rear end to begin a slight slide which the driver would compensate for by some degree of opposite-lock steering input.
For those that don't like the idea of having the DTSS, Installation of "MazdaTrix Toe Eliminator" bushings negate the rear steering and returns the car to the responses a sensitive driver is expecting during "Spirited" driving.
Make up you own mind about what caused Harry's smash but if you want my opinion on it visit my web site
http://www.users.bigpond.com/adsy01/.htm
(click refresh if you have already been there) there are another 2 pics of Harry's wreck and a bit of a write up on DTSS
P.S. ive e-mailed harry back asking for some more info on his smash and i will post his reply to give you guys more info , to help make your own opinion on the DTSS

I was outside with my car for a couple hours today, mostly bare hands. Get yourself a decent pair of light gloves, do it mid-afternoon and you'll be fine. It's suppose to be above freezing on saturday (atleast up here) so that might be a good time.
I'll do you a favour, send the exhaust parts to me so you won't have to deal with them.

I like keeping that exhaust stuff sitting around in my room. It feels so good to stub your toe on a downpipe when just getting out of bed! :p
