This question is a bit too vague.
Will you be able to blow away a 15yo base model Honda Civic? Yep.
Will you be able to blow away a brand new Ferrari F360? Nope.
It’s all relative...

Yes they were available with a Turbo. If you can find one, you’ll be “blowing away” a lot more cars.

i hate people that just get rx-7s because they want to rice them up. Yes this car is fast. Yes there is turbo version. Yes you will blow away most people. But learn more about the car. And after getting the entire scoop on tehse second gens you may not want one. They have some problems, mainly electrical. And the rotary, isn't very reliable when previous owners just bought the car the same way you are going about it, looks and speed. Check how well maintained everything was. And read around these forum, lots and lots of info on these cars.
Go to the kill section of the forums. There are plenty of stang murder stories. Also www.car-stats.com can help you with your stats. Although not 100% accurate. But look around and use the search feature. Plenty of **** n there.

Supra's, rare?

Not here, MK3 Supra's out-number 2nd gen RX-7's about 2 to 1.

I have an 87 base rx-7 and mine is pretty fast. I would agree that my car could beat most any car that isnt turboed or have a V8 in em. If you got a TII (turbo version) you could pretty much beat most cars on the street.

By the way Supras are only a little bit rarer than an RX-7. I see just about the same amount on the road which is still very little. And Supras are not all powerful like everyone thinks. An early 90s Supra Turbo runs like mid 15s. A 90 Rx-7 turbo runs high 14s. Add a street port to that Rx-7 and you will be seeing low 14s high 13s.

Ok I see prolly the same amount of supras or more than 7s and turbo supras of the same years as FCs are slower.

If an RX-7 is not your first choice, please don't own one.

There is similar intent in the saying:
"If you dont like kids, please dont have one."

We would just assume have your prospective 1990 RX-7 go to a person that really really really really wanted one.

I invite you to locate and purchase a Supra.

hmm well it was my second joice followed by a 300zx

by the way how much should a 1990 rx7 gxl cost

its has about 80 thousand miles on it

a couple screws missing in the engine.... but over all excellent

no scrathes... pretty neat-- all power and sunroof

He was asking 4900 but I thought that was wayyyy to much... I was thinking more like 3800 to 4000 grand would be more like it..... althu if I could get him down to 4200 I would take it..... is that right???

If you just want the car, to make it *fast* and just *race* people and not care to learn about a rotary engine, I highly suggest a different car for you... The rx7 isnt just about speed....

N/A = Naturally Aspariated.

depending on the GXL or any other rx7, not just the GXL it can run from $500(and something will be wrong with it, IE: No motor) - 4000 or 5000.

Im sorry man .... I dont know how it is in other places, but theres a lot around here that can beat stock NA FC's.

Now if you were to mod it some ... and port the motor ... thats whole different story

IMO, if you are looking for an rx7 - try and get one atleast somewhat stock - not fully modded. If it's fully modded, and they are asking a highly price more than book - it's not worth your time and money.

In my mind - why buy a car, that has been heavily modded and you don't know WTF he/she did, even if that's what he/she said?

Look around - it was hard to find my GXL but we found it for ~$1000 or it was 2k. Fixed it up, and after I bought it from my brother (who fixed it up and put his business things in there - obbnmotorworks.com) it was ~4k.

What extactly are you looking for out of this?

I also like the look of the car and am intrigues by the different engine and wish to learn more of it

but would the gxl be able to take on some of the common cars like preludes, stock civics, mustangs, celicas, supras, integra (nothing fancy like the type R) cars that other teen can afford:P

Figure it out

Stock the GXL does 7.6 to 8.0 second 0-60 and 16 sec quarter mile.

You should look it up yourself... its only posted in a 100 + threads or articles in Mags

Well if you are concerned about beating other cars get a turbo 2 model. For $4000 you can get a good Turbo 2 and mod it some.
