I killed the wiring in my FC!!!
I searched and it seems that a bad stereo install can f*** up the dash pretty bad... Well I needed tunes in my rx because I'm driving it around soo much to break in the motor... so I threw a cheap cd player uin that was lying around. The harness had been cut by the previous owner... so when I connected the wires all I had as a guide were the chiltons manual and a voltage meter... then I threw some 6x9s in the rear towers... didnt really fit... had to leave the covers off. Everything worked... but tonight I was driving at night and I had no dash lights... I checked the fuses and it was a blown fuse...now that I replaced the fuse the cd player will only work when the lights are off... and the speakers dont work at all now... WTF? Im going to piece the harness back together tomorrow and then get an adapter so the cd player plugs into that... that will ensure that all the wires are conneted to the right spots... anyone else encounter a porblem like this?

Please read the FAQ for FC sticky thread at the top of this section before posting. It has the answers to many common questions, such as the one that you started this thread with.
You wired the aftermarket radio's ground wire to the stock mazda lumination wire. Of course if you read the FAQ for FC sticky thread before posting, you would have found all the stock wire colors for wiring up a radio, and would have seen the warning against using that wire.
