If you can't spin the tires your engine is tired. Do a compression test.

If you can't spin the tires, then you either have a clutch or engine problem. A bone stock NA will roast the rear tires.

NAs aren't fast, but they aren't slow either. They're comfortably quick, and very fun to drive.

when my brother still had his 86 gxl, it was pretty crazy, because it had a street port engine, intake and headers/exhaust and it would light up the night with a whole lot of smoke.

if you go through a new clutch in a week, you're stupid. I can't even imagine how you could end up doing that. Even a stock OEM clutch will last a hellova lot longer than a **** N/A tranny. (if you do your conversion, get a TII tranny) And the auto's do suck, "drag racing experience" or not. This isn't a piston car, with gobs of torque down low. This car has high horsepower up high, and the auto tranny doesn't do it justice, it shifts it way too early, and has a taller gearing iirc.

*edit* and if you learn how to launch, an aftermarket clutch will last you a good while.

One weekend of hard driving will smoke an OEM clutch. I've done it.

Put a manual in that car with a 6-puck ACT copper clutch. That will be the last clutch that you ever put in the car.

a six puck copper clutch is great if you want to race and only race but if you want to drive in traffic you better have a strong leg and a lot of patience cuz that clutch will bite incredibly hard

It took me about a week to re-learn how to drive my 7. I have no complaints.

True dat.

I saw your thread asking for help, Mephis.

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...ight=auto+swap

One key to getting good help from people is not acting like a ****. Patience is another. You waited less than 30 minutes before you started pitching insults at the people you expected help from. What ******* good is that? Sometimes it takes *days* b4 you'll get the reply you're looking for, especially during a holiday like now when so many people are away from home (and their computers.)

I found the following less than 5 minutes searching within the Forum. I don't have any angry feelings towards you but I do hope that you've the decency to be embarassed...

Have you considered thinking before you speak? What experience do you have running high power levels on the NA transmission to prove that it is "****"?

About the original subject - I beat a plumber’s service truck last week.

He stayed with me off the line, but I pulled away at 80.
Hey – it was miller time and he was in a hurry.

I guess this should go in the Kills section?

Let me say this again, the RX-7 is NOT a dragster

And if you wanna know 'good' cars that it can beat... well uhhh, how about a Cobra (old school), Corvette, BMW //M3??

Cuz i HAVe beaten those cars.... in auto-x and ROAD RACING that is

I remember being very pissed off when I went to leave the shop and snuffed my 7 at every light on the way home.
