I just picked up m rotory engine ... lol

Who says its the same weight or only slightly lighter than a v8???

I have a short block turbo engine including the 28lb flywheel atached and I picked the thing up to my ankles then threw it down. I was able to slide it to the back yard. Let me remind everyone that im 5.6 and 128lbs

I had a bare block 428 with nothing in it ( pistons , rods exc )
and it took both me and my dad to take it away...Fully dressed is over 460lbs compared to the 330lb of the new renesis ( fully dressed ) or around 390 or less for N/A for the 2nd gen rotory. I dont know how accurate the N/A rotory 2nd gen is fully dressed but I have seen this weight posted in the new compact car magizine but it included the turbo wich was heavier.

Benching has nothing to do with being able to pick something up.

I don't work out or anything so I don't know how much I can lift/bench. I have weights and am buying a bench next month, so I'm looking forward to that.

Anyway, back on topic. I'm 6'1" and 164 lbs. (tall and kind of skinny). I picked up my TII engine core (complete engine without accessories, but with the flywheel and front pullies), and carried it about 10 feet so I could put it in the passenger seat area of my sisters civic. I'm no muscle man, and I know the engines aren't that heavy compared to piston ones, but damn, that was F*CKIN HARD!!! I seriously was straining to do it. Still think it was pretty impressive for myself though....

bridgport lol thats sick to carry it 10 feet. Mabey someday I will be able to do it but I dont work out.

I think they should have rotories in the toughfest man in the world contest ( show on tv ) were they carry them a certain distance. That would be fun to wach.

Nirtor I mean bench like with my hands...Your thinking of squats I think. Thiers no way you can do 255 unless you want to prove it to me tonight.

OK, bare blocks weigh less than 200lb. Close to 185. Add flywheel, that goes up 25 or so lb. add exhaust manifold, that goes up 15. Or, turbo and manifold 25. Add intake manifold set, with throttle body, that might go up 15 more. p/s and bracket, 15, a/c 15, water pump and housing 10, alternator 10. So it looks like to me teh MOST a complete 2gen rotary can weigh is 300lb. This from someone who deals with these parts all day long.

This in comparison to most v8's with iron heads that weigh nearly 500lb.

Would be nice to have a rotary curling bar! 2–3 rotors on each end, hi-reps with some reverse curls and military presses. Damn Von, 128 pounds?

Yeah, I think we have all attempted to lift it and carry it around. Some of us are more successful than others, I'm sure.

I can actually lift the entire back-end of my chevy sprint, tires off the ground, and walk forward with the car. Now THAT looks impressive!

I wiegh 146 lbs.

Those numbers sound realistic.

I'm 6'1" 175lbs and I can pick mine up. Its not that its heavy, as much as it is kinda awkward. I get help cause I'm scared to drop it. I'd be so pissed if it slipped, or if I started to stumble and I dropped it on my concrete garage floor

Wink HAHA

you guys are all skinny. i am glad i am not skinny.

EXCWEPT.. if i were skinnier IT would look bigger :-) haha but i to don't matter much. hell if anything i weigh my 7 dowm nmore than you guys. but being able to bench has nothing to do with being able to pick up an engine. forearm strength and the strenght of your legs&back is where it's at.

Peace

Oh come on. Its all relivant. If you can bench alot then you should lift a large number as well. How many people do you see with huge arms and no legs?

rxse7en!!! yeah 128lbs should I take a pic. Im not like as scronny as it sounds.

I max bench around 250-260, but I can legpress over 1400 lbs at my current weight.

So yes, you can have muscle development solely on your legs and not on your upper body.

In my sport, wrestling, the upper body is merely a means to hold onto the person, while your hips and apply all of the power.

Yes, I look unproportional.

dude who said the tII engine weighted like 300lbs? yeah just use some chain and a 4x4 get two people should be able to rip it out...
ok now I can squat about 350myself and my freind about the same. so we have about 700lbs of lifting power right? we couldnt budge it anyways that engine is more then 300lbs...
