I just got my first 2nd gen :D
ok so ive had 3 rx-7s (1st gens) and now im at my 4th rx...a 2nd gen...a 1987 with 144000 miles i traded my old car for it which was an 86 pontiac fiero gt which i didnt trust for anything..
anyway, i have a few questions...#1 was this a good trade? #2 i have a 5spd and the clutch feels a little loose like its got lots of leeway, how do i fix this? and #3 what is the 2nd gen rx-7s 1/4 mile time and 0-60 time stock?

which model do you have?
the series 4 (1986-1989) N/A's have 146hp and the Turbo II's have 182hp I think. Can't remember if those are exact but theyre close if not exact, too lazy to look ;-)
Normally I would say go to www.rx7club.com click on Resources up top. And click on car stats, but rx7club.com is acting up.
Just try later, hopefully It'll be up by then.
series 5 cars have 10% more hp than series 4 cars but the series 4 cars are lighter. They have pretty much an equal lb/hp rating, actually the series 4 has a better one.
I think the turbos do 0-60 in the 7's, verts in 10's, and i have no idea about the N/A coupes.
for 1/4, I'm not sure
N/A Coupes weigh 2625lbs
Turbos weigh about 2800 I think
And verts weigh right on the edge of 3000
This is all from memory cause the site is down right now
Enjoy your car

#1 I would say that was a good trade depending on the condition of both, but prolly a good trade.
#2 Might want to try bleeding the clutch. Got to www.fc3s.org for a write-up of how to do it.
#3 The stock 0-60/quarter mile times are 8.5/16.5 for your car. You can see alot of cars here:https://www.rx7club.com/vforums/show...threadid=24948

If the shifter seems loose, there are some bushings you can replace below the shifter itself try going here http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/shiftbsh.htm
It's only around 20-30 dollars for the fix. With the 87, the only thing that makes it on par with the fiero is the pulsation dampner on the fuel rail, which can sometimes go bad, spilling gas on the exhaust (bad.) Otherwise you got a good car!
A method of helping us tell what model it is, how many lugs are on the wheels 4 or 5? Sunroof? PS? PW?
How do you like the feel of the 2nd gen vs the 1st gen? It took a lil while for me to get used to mine (91 TII) it can seem a lil heavy in cornering...

4 lug wheels? Sounds like an SE to me...thats what I got anyways. 14 inch rims? If so, then its definitely and SE.
I've seen figures with the 86-88NA running low 7's for 0-60, and with TII's running mid 6's. I think the TII has about 160-some hp, but node says 182, which seems high but he could be right.
Welcome to the world of RX7's. You'll quickly realize you own on the finickiest cars on the planet, and love it for that very reason. Spin that engine up to 7000rpm, thats a sound you'll get used to very quickly.
Have fun!
