I just got a 1990 Rx-7 Gxl!
I'm 16, and i've liked the rx-7 for a while now. I almost switched into getting a 90' toyota celica GT-S, until I saw a 1990 rx-7 gxl for $900 cdn!!!! I went to look at it yesterday, it had performance exhaust, k&n air filter, a new floor and some accesories. It was on its second engine, a 1988 model. The car is black and has some minor rust, and a crack i the windshield, but its fixable. Everything works, and it looks great. I talked to my dad, and we bought it later that day! I just wanted to know if
this was a good choice, and some suggestions on what to do next to it.

Wow Congrats!!! Post some pics of the interior, exterior and engine bay and the folks here can give you a list 10 pages long of things you should and could do next.
Get a windshield first. Look at the tires, they in good shape?, change the oil and filter, Check the bushings, a polyurithane bushing kit will make a dramatic difference in how well the car drives and rides (it will be better than new) and is really inexpensive, $120.00 for a full kit, Next check the shocks, they worn? I'd get the car mechanically sound, safe and reliable before doing performance or body mods.

ok first of all i believe its a 88 engine with 89-91 intake and sensors. its 5-speed and has 282000 on the body, and roughly 90,000km on the new engine. the floor was rusted out and replaced in the front and rear.

Well, for $900 it sounds like an OK deal...I worry about that floor though. Most body shops don't have the talent to properly replace large sections of a unibody car...Also, that engine condition is just plain odd. Don't expect to pass emissions...
Before you do ANY performance modding, read http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/newowner.htm and do a full tuneup.
Edit: How exactly was "all carbon buildup" removed?
