I just found my stolen car in CARFAX.com
YOu guys know what i just found out?
As i was playing with the CARFAX.com thing (as many of you are :p), out of curiousity, i type in the # of my stolen car a year ago. Guess what happen? The report never show it stolen. Furthermore, the car is registered 2 month after the car was stolen
my question is: How can someone register a car without my title (i still have to title at home) and why didn't the police report show up in DMV and CARFAX???!!!???
What do you guy think i should do? The car is register local, should i report to the police so i can get it back (i should have the police report back then)? What if the buyer didn't know it was a stolen car? will he or she lose their cars? This is too ridiculous......

Definetly contact the police first. Even though the car is legally yours you need to follow their rules and procedures for recovering the vehicle. Maybe if your lucky the current occupant of your car will have some good mods and a fresh coat of wax waiting for you.
This happened to my cousin. His Chevelle was stolen, the theives yanked the motor out, and sold the body. The kid that bought it put in a new motor and went to register it. When it came up stolen, the police confiscated it and gave it back to my cousin.
The only way they could have gotten a tag, is for the car to be older than the cutoff date for the title. Look to be in a long protracted legal battle if it is.
First thing, report this to the police - both here and in the town that the car is registered in.
Do not contact the people who registered it themselves.
You will need a copy of the stolen vehicle report and the title to show the police.

do NOT go see him on your own. You never know if he's the theif or some unsuspecting rube. If the current driver IS the theif, or a friend, they may want the car enough to do something rash.
Go get the cops and get your car back!

Right now the problem is that i don't have a written report at my hand. All the report has been done through the phone. I know there is a report # assigned, but I don't have that # (i do back then, but lost it since it's over a year). Can I just call in and have them search using my name? What are the chances of me getting the report?
Furthermore, the insurance has already pay for the stolen vehicle since I have the comperhansive insurance on it. So either to get it back or not is not important to me.
The thing i concern the most is the safty of my neighborhood. I live near UCLA, which suppose to be a good neighborhood, but the car was stolen IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE!!!!!!!!!
I think i will call police to request the report first, then see what happen.
thanks for advices though

Did you report it to your insurance company? Did you have comp on the car even? Well don't go see the people that have it registered, if they stole it chances are if you talk to them the car will "disappear" again just so they don't get in trouble. If insurance paid out on this car then they would get the car more than likely. If not and its all yours then go down to the police station and have them look for the report. If you called it in to your insurance co. they might have the police report # on file because that is one of the first questions we ask for.

hey
Yup. By the way. I would be very pissed if I was you. You dont care if you get it back or not. Even thou you had comp stealing is stealing. I would like you to find the guy who did it. Couldnt be to hard. Just back track. Find him then brake his ******* legs. Unless it wasnt an rx7 then your right... **** it.
there are two things i can see happeningwith your insurance.
One. you might have to buy it back from your insurance company
two. they might not car or might not be notified and if they find out later and tell you it is their's i suggest you just play dumb and say ok. insurance fraud is no fun
but dont go see the guy. no use getting your car back if you get shot

ok Wait if the insurance co paid you off
right? Then sometime later the car was found
the insurance co can get a Title and sell it at auction
and it's legit.
