Question i just bought a new 7..help

OK, i just bought an 88 RX-7 i belive its an SE, at least it says so on one fender, it has no sunroof, no rear wiper, no power anything(mirros, locks, windows). It's white with a blue interior. It had been perty riced up, but most of that has been taken care of, it had 2 yellow stripes running all the way over the car, right infront of the driver, one bigger then the other, the mirros had been painted yellow, and it has flow master exhaust with 2 2 1/2 crome mustang eghaust tips(UGH!). Also some of the interior pieces had been painted either white or neon green, but most of that has been cleaned off, but probily the worst thing was the stearing wheel being cut, it is the 3 spoke wheel and above the 3 and 9 o'clock spokes there was just enough room left for you to grip, the rest was cut. But now that most of that has been fixed here are my questions...

Interor problems:

There was no radio in the car, but behind where it goes there are a lot of cut wires, and when you look back in there there are other melted wires, and wires with no shielding. So none of the dash lights work, the hatch open light is always on, when you have your head under the dash the horn will sometimes honk, the low washer fluid light/buzzer will randomly come on, but with some fooling around the clock did come on. But will I need a new harness under there, or just a good manual and lots of work, b/c none of the fuses are blown.

Exterior problems:

The lower part of the front bumper was bent down and scraped everything, and is perty cracked up, so I cut off some of it(anyone have a nie condition bumper for sale?) I got some of the clear lense high beam flashers from a friend, but they arnt in great condition and dont fit straight(so anyone have a set of them for sale?) The drivers side door handle has been shaved, I discovered a button under teh front fender that seams to pull the latch to open up, but you either need 2 people or or some crazy acrobatic work to get it open. But it was welded in from behind, so could I get a body shop to take it out and put a handel back? or am I looking for a new door?

Salvage yard problems:

I went to a slavage yard not to far away and found that they had 2 white rx7s, one seams to be a 89-91 TII, but the front is gone and the only reason I say this is b/c there is a 89-91 TII guage cluster lying in it, but thats not to importnat, what is is what left on the car. It has the nicer mirrors(power), power windows, a good condition door handle, a good condition spoiler, and a side skirt package, now I looked through the gallery and other pictures on this page and I can not fid a picture of a car with this skirt, it goes under the door and comes up behind it to be attached as part of the side molding/trim(which is all white on this car). Now I wanted to put all of these pieces on my car, and they said if I buy all of it(mirrors, power window motors and regulators, spoiler, skirt and door moldings(my door moldings arnt in good shape)) that they would charge me about $425, but i had to get it all or nothing. So is this skirt going to fit my car, is it after market? and could i make power windows and mirros work in my car?

I belive that is all, thanks for your help

Ken

#1 - Congrats on rescuing the RX-7 from mr. ricer-from-hell. The cars deserves a good owner.

#2 - The Shop Manual for 88 RX-7's is online in Adobe PDF format at http://www.iluvmyrx7.com. If you have a good connection you can download it all, if not, it's broken up into chapters and you can view specific chapters off their site and print the pages you want. I haven't gone behind my dash at all except to add a fuel pump kill switch under the steering column.

#3 - There is no guarantee the parts will fit your car directly, however all 86-91 RX-7's are quite similar in styling. I'm gonna get flamed to death for saying that because they aren't exactly similar... but if you havea full front bumper/spoiler, and side skirts, a good body shop can install in on your car.

#4 - The shaved door handles... they could have been filled with body fill (uggh... stupid ricers) or have some steel welded in over the hold and then the cracks filled and paints. It's probably going to be easier to get a clean straight door.

#5 - power windows and mirrors shouldn't be too difficult to install but if you are getting the doors off a T2 with them already installed you are set.

good luck.

Hey there....

As far as the wiring goes it can be fixed....however, it will take TIME!! and a WHOLE LOT of PATIENCE thats if u want to do it rite....or if u just want it running then who cares what is connected just cover the exposed wire so u don't catch the car on fire......I know what u are goin through I have a similar issue.....who ever had mine before did a real job on the wiring my fuel light comes on when i lift the hand brake....
