i have a weird question

i think i already know the answer . but im looking at buying an 87 . my question is simple did they come with a 4 speed manual that year or not. this one has one and it makes me wonder where it came from if it is even supposed to have on or not. im getting the car at a steal in my opinion. but i want to know if i should be concerned? thanks chumlee

they came with a 4-speed automatic, but no 4 speed manual, only 5 speed. Unless you saw it for yourself, the info you got is wrong.

Didn't some of the first gen RX-7s have a 4spd manual?

Edit: The RX-2, RX-3, RX-4 and REPU from 1974-1975 and the RX-7 from 1979-1980 had 4spd trannys.

Some of the 1st gens had them, but they were VERY rare. However, to swap one into a 2nd gen would require relocating the shifter hole, and a custom driveshaft. You would also need the appropriate slave cylinder and hydraulic hose, as well as the clutch assembly to match.
