I have searched: S4 NA vacuum help

Good day!

Okay, I replaced my fuel rails, fuel injectors, LIM/UIM gasket, all vacuum lines and now the car runs like crap. I figure it is a vacuum leak.

I have spent many hours looking for vacuum diagrams for an S4 NA. Specifically, I have a vacuum line in the rear (firewall area) of my UIM near the passenger side of the car. THere are two "smaller" lines and one capped "larger line". There was only one line attached out of the two smaller ones. One line was attached straight above the plug on the yellow tubular plastic device.

Anybody know where the other one goes? I noticed the S5's only have one of the smaller lines.

Also, it seems that the car losses power on the top end. It also doesn't hold idle at all after it does the warm up 3000 rpm bouncing idle thing.

Thanks,

Rob

Try again

Maybe I need to restate the problem.

When I start my car, the rpm's rise to about 2500-3000 and "bounce" at that point. I understand that the idle is not supposed to bounce.

Next, when I hit the gas or let the engine get to operating temps, the rpm's drop and the car stalls (unless I hit the gas.)

The car also backfires a good deal under sudden throttle lift (I have a new cat and exhaust)

Finally, the car does not pull very hard above about 5500 rpms. (I have checked the airpump and it works, I also have checked that the actuators are not stuck (they aren't)).

The only thing I noticed that is causing some concern is there is definetely a vacuum line not attached that is on teh back of the UIM below the dashpot.

THanks,

Rob

the FSM is available online check the FAQ on this site for a link also the haynes manual has some good vacume diagrams in it as well. there are two vacume lines that come off the back of the TB and go down to the block/vacume web thing and there is one on the thermo wax that goes to about the same place if i remember correctly. hope that helps.
