I have cancer.

Here's the floor panels on my 'vert from behind the passenger seat.

I'm assuming I'll have to have new metal welded in, although, I had a thought: If I remove all the rust, could I just build a thick, fiberglass floor there? It's not structural, the metal is really damn thin, so would it be a big deal if I just did it in fiberglass?

I started cutting out the nasty piece:

I figured a sheet of plain ol' sheet metal would be fine. It will be under carpet, it shouldn't be noticeable anyway.

nope you need metal that is raised and formed or it provides no strength to the chassis, theres a reason why it has all the funky shapes stamped into it, its to add ridgity (spelling) to the chassis. so find a vert in a junkyeard with good metal and cut out the piece(s) you need.

That's easily repairable.
I just posted something about RUSTS to remind everyone about it.
I got a few rust spots, but I got to them before they spread. . .

I'm gonna recheck again. eheh it's nasty.

I had a hole starting in the same place on my '89 vert. I just cut the rust out and made the hole into a nice square, used a piece of sheet metal, pounded it with a hammer to form it a bit then used seam sealer all around the area and used pop rivots to hold the sheet metal in place. I then went up underneath and seam sealed the entire area from the bottom...good as new or close to it.

But you do have more rust than I had...

welding in new metal is the key here. duraglass would work if you dont want to replace it with metal.
