Wheel slack tolerances

Does anyone know what sort of tolerances there are for left-right and top-bottom slack?

Meaning you push/pull on opposite sides of the wheel.

My bearings seem to be find but I was wondering why there was a little bit of slack on the up/down side. I figure the left-right side slack is probably just the steering rack, but what is related to the top and bottom?

Slack top and bottom but not side to side could indicate a worn balljoiunt or strut shaft if it's not the bearing.

It seems like the brake rotor/hub is just a tiny bit loose but also are the brake calipers supposed to be free-floating?...

What brakes do you have? The 4 piston calipers are hard mounted to the upright, the single piston ones slide along the line of action of the piston, this is to allow the outer pad to do work too.

If you think the hub is loose than take the wheel off and see if it's just a little loose and needs tightening or if it's in need of replacing. You may be able to get rid of the slack by tightening the nut a little.
