Its his choice what car he wants to modify, not yours. Some people maybe aren't too partial to giving up a car with no issues for one with unknown problems?
calm down man, he asked for advice that was one guys advice.

I just see it daily. He acts what to do with his car, not a TII. So the poster wasn't even asking to sell to his NA then buy a TII. So how was his advice even making sense in that situation?

Reading needs to be something that happens more often on this forum.

Sorry, but Austin has emissions, too. They just implemented it in September, I think. They however only do the 2-speed idle testing, which is much easier to pass than the more advanced one they do in Dallas.

This thing is still kicking I see. Maybe I should give experienced advice. When I do this all over again I will change my approach and I think I will share that.

First thing I would take all that money and restore the car. Get everything right interior exterior everything working. If it needs paint and body work get it done. Get a nice drivable reliable car. If the motor needs rebuilt id send it to Kevin and have it ported and rebuilt nicely. I would paint the motor and clean up the bay replace anything leaking anything worn.

Then if I had money I would put an EMS on it. Then go from there.

I am restoring my SA22C this way its cherry now but I want everything perfect you know it just gives you a nice car to drive each day. No sense in having a blaring loud car that looks like a beater. If something is worn replace it with an upgrade. Like if your exhaust is worn and you have to fix it might as well put a RB on there.

Buy a quieter exhaust or do something other then a "test pipe". Otherwise you wouldn't be able to drive the car without looking for cops.
i know, but he asked, and i said what i would want if i could get away with it. of course there are a bunch of other things i want to do, but for 2 grand, thats about it. But i do think i probably was about at the 2400 level, but you know, if you're already spending 2 grand........

Er, if you don't have it don't give it as advice. Why not straight pipe it off the header? It'll sound the same and cost less. Sorry, posts like that frustrate me, if he listened to you he'd be down 400-500 in next year replacing a FAR too loud exhaust system. I love the Corksport cat-back, but that setup you suggested was just unstreetable.

Expect tickets if you DARED that setup and enjoy living life at 2 thousand RPM's so you aren't harassed for being a dick who couldn't keep the car quiet.

For 2 grand? I have enough modifcations that haven't even cost me $2,000 yet. I don't think you researched it very closely.

****...if i had the consistency to spend that on my late 80's car i'd be putting a 12a turbo in my s4 (/w s5 single turbo), getting a front mount intercooler and koyo radiator... sounds like a nasty combination if you ask me, especially for daily driving.

Well, back to the topic - 2k to spend and 2 weeks to enjoy it? Just buy a TII - you get a car that rides much faster, is lowered, has a hood-scoop and spoiler, nice rims, luxury option package and it'll meet emissions. You can't buy that level of upgrade for that price for your n/a ride IMHO. Plus it's ready to drive. God forbid you should run into a snag while making engine mods to your current ride - then you ain't goin nowhere... ~rich

Wanna keep your n/a ride? then check out camden superchargers... bolt on ZOOM

1. (Buy a T II) That has already been mentioned. I know where I live, They don't exist. When they rarely do, they are not without their problems. At that,. try to find a 52,000 mile S5 T II for less than 2k. It won't happen.

2. I've heard from people who have wasted the money on the Camden supercharger. also, from the design I see, it's a ******* joke. The video is funny, It shows the guy doing doughnuts or somthing like that. I could do the same **** with a old N/A.

The camden unit isn't a joke. It's a sad peice of **** that should die. There is no zoom with that craptastic fuckfest of stupidity.

On another note, I drove around with a RB header, 2.5" piping to a 2.5" y and two cheap ebay mufflers for years, no tickets for me, no pissed off neighbors, no nothing!

Thread cleaned up.

This is a technical forum, not a political forum. Take that crap somewhere it belongs like the Lounge or Difference Of Opinion forum. Warnings have been issued as necesary, and the offending posts have been deleted.

Keep it clean.

just to let you know it isnt that hard to pass the emissions in austin . i'm a state inspector and i just did a test run on my car after i put my single exhaust on . now i have 2.5 piping all the way through with the stock main cat and the 2 pre cats deleted . and a short ram intake /cold box . i just riched it out all the way did the tsi test (2 speed ) and i passed with flying colors now yeah i dont have a port or anything but my numbers were in the teen's and 20's out of 220 which is the limit in austin (travis, williamson county). so i tried running it leaned out and it failed so bad i was in the 500 range. if anyone in austin area wants to run a test run to see where there numbers are at then let me know .
