Unhappy I hate it when Bad Karma Happens

I posted this in the Lounge. I thought you guys might be able to help in the 2nd Gen Forum.

Well check this story out guys. Hopefully I can get a little advice too. I was coming home last night form a party at a friends house around 3am, just about to get on the freeway on ramp and my car just dies on me in the middle of the turn. I try to turn it over again but it just won't even try. Just like when the battery dies except my headlights weren't dim. I was like what the ****? So I push it to the side of the road and call my brother to give me a jump. He comes out gives me a jump but that still doesn't work. Diconnect the cables and try it again. This time it try's to turn over kinda then turns over but it sounds like only one rotor is firing. My bro tries to move the car in first gear but has no power and the car almost dies again. By the way he was the previous owner so I trust him. It's running like total *** no power so we decided to leave the car because we didn't want to screw the car up even more. I seriously doubt it's a blown seal. I had to get a ride to work today and I'm pissed off stuck here till I get off and take a good look at her. My brother thinks it's something stupid like a bad coil or maybe bad plugs or wires. His Rx7 actually has a blown apex seal to so he knows what it feels like. Except he can still drive his. By the way I forgot to tell you guys it's a 87 NA with about 107,000 Original motor. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated. God I'm so pissed and depressed at the same time.

My response from the Lounge...

The only bad karma I've earned recently is from letting the air out of my ex-girlfriends tires because she tried to block me in at a party.

Do a compression check, other than losing a seal I can't think of anything that can just go out like that and cause you to lose so much power.

LOL Mykl. Your great! I should have done posted your respnse too . Didn't think of that. I forgot you have the 2nd Gen Vert. Here's a update on what's going on.....

Thanks Mykl for the support. I just got some great news. Thanks to a great friend (Rishie "ARD T2") and alot of luck a actual rotary god will be taking a look at my car for me today. I just need to get it towed there. With any luck hopefully it's something minor.I feel better now because the guy only works mainly on FD's so he's doing me a favor. I'll keep you guys posted and updated on what's up. Wish me luck

Well here's a update sport fans. The **** just hit the fan. The motor's blown. God just when I thought things were starting go my way. I think I'm gonna get wasted tonight. It's such a depressing feeling. I wonder how the FD owners get through it and to make maters worse it's my daily driver.

Alright so I guess it's time for recomendations on Engine rebuilders. Any good tips? Also anyone on the forum have a street ported motor and use it as a daily driver. I figure if I have to get a new motor might as well explore my options. Thanks!

Get a mild street port rebuild. My 7 has 130k and was rebuilt before I got it. It runs great still & from what I hear a mild street port won't lose you very much drivability at all. Come on street porters...help him out.

A street port on an n/a isn't really worth the money, IMO. Not enough power for the money spent.

I highly recommend you look into a Mazda remanufactured engine. There's on in the convertible right now with almost 40k miles on it and it runs great. I totally expect this engine to last many many more hard miles.

Sorry to hear about your loss though, that sucks. I've been through that once and instead I just got rid of the car. I really wish I hadn't though, it would have made a great turbo drivetrain recipient. Oh well, live and learn.
