so i lift up my car because i have to replace my diff seals and bearings and to my surprise it jumps out at me and says H E L L O!!!!!

WTF
some one did some hacked up jub on this big time and i never noticed it, it seems like the tranny was from a diffrent generation and they made a plate with another tranny mount

Well, the s4 and s5 trannys have teh mount in the same basic place, so thats not what it is. The one that isn't connected is the stock location for the FC tranny mount. It almost looks like your car used to have an auto tranny and that thing is the adapter braket to get it to mount up to the stock location used by the auto tranny. I've never done that myself so I'm not sure, but thats what it could be.

I think that's an auto adapter.

I also think that your rear seal on the trans is leaking, should replace that too while you're in there.

yeah, ghetto jobs will get under your skin. that doesnt look that bad though. if it had zip ties and duct tape that would be adifferent story but the welds look pretty good and it doesnt seem like you had any problems with the trans so i guess in the end it wasnt too bad of a job. it still sucks that you had to find out in the manner that you did.

but was it originally a turbo II? if it was, then it had a manual trans to start with. that poses more questions.

i think you may now have your answer. you can always run your vin at the dealer and they can tell you when the car was delivered and originally sold and what options it had and whatnot.
