So I think that its time to upgrade to a high outputting alternator because the alternators I buy (they are used but tested and worked fine) don't seem to be outputting enough amps (I'm going to get it tested today to make sure that its putting out the 80amps)
The symptoms I was having was that whenever I press on the brakes the voltage drops noticeably and at night when I am driving at night with the lights on, the voltage stays at 12 or lower. I also have bad idle, and i think this may be the cause (high doubtful)
So as Searched through my local shops, nobody wanted to work on increasing the amperage of the alternator, they only wanted to work on domestic cars because they didnt have the right parts? Ether way, I did the unthinkable and went on Ebay and found this guy who sells 140amp alternators here... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...TQ:MOTORS:1123
So what I wanted to know is what do you guys think about increasing the amps to 140 on a fc that doesnt have a huge electrical load. (no extra lights or stereo)

The only thing about that is that it doesn't have a lifetime warranty like buying a remanufactured one from an auto parts store would. Have you looked at the 130amp Ford Taurus alternator swap?

I considered both, an FD and a taurus alternator, but I wanted something that was an easy swap with no hard work. And I figured powering up my current alternator would be best. And it is also a s5

buy the pulley from one of the guys here (I forgot the name)
Swap the pulley, return the old S4 unit as "core" back to the part store.
You still have lifetime warranty on the FD alternator. whenever it breaks just swap the pulley out and put it on the new one.
be happy.
