Question I got a question on 6mm seals?

Well a wile ago I saw that there where 6mm apex seals. I was wondering if they could be used on the 13b turbo motor, and where can I find them to buy. thanks

This question made me LOL.

Tell me where you "saw" these apex seals, so I can point and laugh some more.

^^ May not be as dumb as we think... sorta.

I don't know if I'm reading/looking at this right, but I think that 6mm is just OOOllldd tech. This says the R100 had 6mm seals, and that they're thinner now because A)it's better and B)we have the materials to do it and still be strong.

Then buy rotary aviation seals...from my understanding...atkins are the softest but seat the fastest...then the OEM seals are in the middle and RA seals are the hardest, but take longer to seat and wear the housings a little faster.

You are sorely mistaken if you want them so they can "take more of a beating".

1. More contact area results in accelerated wear and tear
2. Are you compensating for your inferior tuning skills? Judging by what you've said, I think you're planning on several detonations?
3. Reliable power has been proven already... on 2mm seals.
4. Milling the rotors for the new seal size costs money. Balancing the rotating assembly after milling costs money. What's your budget?

Tune your car well, and you won't need this false sense of security.

I bet 6mm seals made from material using current apex seal technology would cause some intense damage when they blow.

Hey no problem. We all got a good chuckle out of it anyway.

We've all misread/interpreted something as we learn.

It'll be like having bolts inside the running engine when those seals blow. they're almost as big as the corner seals in diameter!
