i found a ground near my coil that is ripped out.

Ok the coil that sits closer to the driver (the one that is higher up on the shock tower) well i was looking around and one of these back box grounds is conected near (under) that coil, but the wire that comes off the ground is cut. can anyone take a pic of what the end connector looks like or give me any help on where i could ground this to on the harness.

thanks

if you need pics let me know

Each one of the coils should have 1 loose wire which is a service coupler for a tachometer. Does this wire have a black butt connector over? If so, thats what it is.

There are two possibilities of what you are refering to.

There is a black, square outfit that is indeed a ground block for headlight grounds etc. You can't see it unless you remove the coil assy, to the best of my memory. Then there is another possibility. There is a condenser for the coils that is nearby. I don't remember the exact location. It's for the lead and trail coil assy. You can see that in this jpg that follows. It's at the bottom of the jpg, and its called *Condenser*. It should have a hole in it for a 10mm socket size bolt to attach it to the frame. Maybe I''ll look closer tomorrow.

Describe the part in detail so I can compare it with my car. Is it bolted down? How many wires coming out of it.? Is there any connector on the end of that wire.

Tell me you are not talking about the black bullet connector that is found on each coil assy that is used for diognostics, please.

On mine there is two grounds in that area. one is attached to the strut tower between the two mounts for the coil. The other has a small black connector type thing which then attaches to the lower bolt of the bracket in your third pic.

sorry pinkfloyd, i think i'm a little confused. Is the ground which isn't attached to anything coming from the ground point on the chassis or a harness somewhere ?

Havn't got a clue what aim is sorry. Just had a look and they both go to the same harness. If you look at the harness which has the plugs on for the main relay, trailing coil and wiper motor(a couple of other small plugs aswell) the wire which grounds onto the tower between the two coil mounts goes into the harness in the same place the coil connectors come out. The wire with the little black thingy on the end goes to a conector then into the same harness a little further down - this only the wire that goes into the harness at that point. Hope this helps you out, i can't get a pic my camera is broke at the moment.

On the wire that goes to the tower there is no connector. The other wire (lower down the harness) has a normal looking clear/white single pin connector.

I took a look this morning. That black box is the CONDENSER. That black wire is supposed to have a connector on the end. It connects to the BLACK WIRE WITH A YELLOW STRIPE, that also has a single connector on it. The BLACK WIRE WITH A YELLOW STRIPE, is the 12v feed wire for the lead and trail coils. See the diagram that I think I attached in an above post.

As a point of reference, there is above that black box, a plug with four wires that SEEMs to be plugged into the strut tower. Those are ground wires, on of which is for the headlights.

now that i look at it, for the fule pump to work you have a main relay and a fuel pumprelay & reisitor. witch one of these things is in the car near the stearing colom. where is the other.
