I Done Goofed...

I ordered all new belts from Mazdatrix but none of them seem to match up with what i had on the car... I made sure to buy the right ones but maybe for some reason the engine isn't the year i think it is (and i think its an 87 because my car's an 87). Here's what i got:
http://mazdatrix.com/getprice.asp?partnum=18-381A-8311
http://mazdatrix.com/getprice.asp?partnum=13-7150-N304
http://mazdatrix.com/getprice.asp?pa...7-C31A-0000-6A
http://mazdatrix.com/getprice.asp?partnum=15-9080-N326

I'm still waiting on my new water pump to come in so maybe when i get that back on along with the pullies connected to it and the ones attached to the crank (or eccentric shaft or something like that) it'll all fit better.

Lemme tell ya ive been making some rookie mistakes but i just feel plain dumb with this one. I can offer some pics to help but it's with every thing on (excluding the fan shroud)

Thanks for any help

I'm not sure what you mean exactly. Are you saying that the belts you ordered are way off what you have? Ie, are they really big or really small?

Even if you go to a local parts store and buy say an alt belt, and pull two off the rack with the same part number 9 out of 10 are not exactly the same size. That's why you have adjustable tension. This is also why if you go dual alt pulley, you need to go to the store physically and pick through stock to get belts that are close to the same size.

Every belt has an adjustment, so are you saying even adjusting the 2 tensioner pulleys, the alternator position and the air pump you still can't get enough tension?

I believe there are two A/C belts to choose from. One is for the factory compressor while the other is for the Sanden unit (aftermarket). Either way though, the adjustable pulleys should fit both, but they require the adjustment.

The Sanden compressor was OEM; I think whether you got the Sanden or the other one (Nippondenso?) just depended on VIN. Both compressors are listed in the Mazda parts fiche. Also, I think they use the same belt anyway.

To the OP, when you say your new belts fit just inside your old ones, are you saying the new belts aren't as long as the old ones? That's normal because your old ones are probably stretched from use.
