The secondary air pipe has been welded to a straight pipe (cat removed) and connected back to run the 5/6th ports.

I dont believe there is enough pressure just using a straight pipe.

Also, that looks like rubber hose. It will probably melt or burn being so close to the exhaust pipe (and carrying exhaust gas that hasn't had much chance to cool yet).

Also if it does work it might not open the 5th and 6th ports up at the same rpm as stock.

I've seen guys run an open exhaust with a tube off the header. The ports only need something like 3lbs of pressure? But yea, that rubber is going to crack and melt. Didnt see that.

Yea that will work . I think the pressure needed is 2 or 3 pounds tops .. Some time back like a year or two TROCHOID or what ever he might have changed his name to informed me to do just that except yea you need to change the shitty hose or it will turn into a blob of poo . What you might need to do if anything is to remove pipe put a radical bend in it so it is facing into the exhaust flow weld back in and you are set .

Hard to tell without seeing the end that's in the pipe.
That sort of fitting can be configured to pull a vacuum or push pressure depending on the angle of the endcut and insertion angle of the pipe.

In his profile he states he has a 88 vert so it would need pressure wouldn't it ? Just pull the hose and push something small into the pipe you should be able to tell weather it has a curve inside the exhaust pipe or not .

it would be better to run it upstream than that far downstream, there is more pressure generated where the gases are still expanding.

for some reason i doubt this method will really work.

You might experiment with putting a slight bend in the pipe like racing beat does. To see if your ports open strap a zip tie on each rod at the base. After I drive see if the ties moved to the top of the rods.

you can T a boost/pressure gauge into the 6 port vacuum line and see if it works or not.

I've decided it is ALL coming out! Replacing with a RB system.

Uhhhh, why pay for gaskets when you can just weld in together?

(whats the symbol for sarcasm)

I once got a car with a welded together exhaust. The previous owner must have thought that the 6th port actuating pipe was emissions equipment and just tac welded it to the surface for looks.
And yeah its one piece as well. Life's little challenges. .

Happy driving

For what it's worth, I had a straight pipe with the split air hookup welded on like that. It did not work. Maybe if the tube were inserted and bent to face the incoming exhaust it might work. Small-diameter connections on a header seem to be the best method.
