I was crusin on the highway and all of a sudden POP!

I was driving on the FL turnpike tonight, just cruisin at about 85-90, stupid vibration from the tranny/motor mounts or u-joints/driveshaft havent figured it out yet, but gonna check it tomorrow after work. But back to the story, I was on the turnpike and POP my car backfires for no reason, so I thought okay thats wierd, and it was louder than it already was, cuz it has a straight pipe with a resonator, but it was crazy loud, my friend was next to me in his FC and he accelerates away from me thinkin I was messin with him with the backfire, and so I dropped it and the car pullls alot harder than it would, and it didnt bog or hesitate like it use to. Now 2 days ago I did an induction cleaner and fuel cleaner, but it had no effect, so could that be kicking in now? Also when I first got the car, my friend with his FC said I was only running on 4 ports instead of 6? the last two werent opening up? (I dont know much about rotary) but I would like to know how I couldve just gained a lil power? I think the resonator may have been clogged to, what do you guys think?

You know...most backfires happen when you lift...ever so slightly... I bet you just lifted a little bit and didn't even realize it...

As for the more power... Could be the same old story...they always run great right before they......

No...Honestly...It sounds like you had a cloged injector that finally passed its kidney stone...so now your getting a good spray... As for ports....ummm....haaaaa....MAYBE... Unlikely....

i know nothing of the prorts just randomly working again. mine have always worked but when i ran my car open hedder i could tell the top end diffrence by not having the aux ports open. but yes if they did magicly start to work again that would explane the backfire and the extra power.
