I can't get my power antenna to move. Motor problem, not relay
I can't seem to figure out the power antenna on my 1990 convertible. I installed an aftermarket radio and replaced a junky, chinese, aftermarket antenna and motor with a used stock one. I installed the additional relay and the replacement worked for a few months though I rarely used it. A few times it moved on its own randomly when the cd player was on but the radio was off. One day it randomly went about 3/4 of the way up when it was not suppose to be moving and I could not get it to move up or down anymore even by directly grounding the wire that activates the antenna. All 4 of the wires on the harness have the proper voltage. I have a spare antenna that seemed to have gone into the same state months ago when I was trying to install it before the current antenna. I can't get the spare to move even when I bypass the relays and hook the motor up directly to a spare battery (Yellow or brown to white wire). Both my aftermarket relay and the relay on the antenna seem to work and make a clicking noise. The spare motor showed 80k ohms and after I disassembled and put it back together it showed 40k ohms. I do not know what is wrong. Is it normal for these motors to stop working? Any ideas?
