Unhappy I can't believe I did this!

I was adding oil to my 88TII, you know the foil seal you peal back on a new jug of oil? Well in it went into my motor. F*&%! It's about the size of a silver dollar. I haven't started the car since.

It has to be sitting in my oil pan right? i really don't want to have to pull the pan off to get it out.

Has this happened to anyone?

Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

Looks like you're going to have to take the pan off.... Unless the seal is magnetic, and you can stick a magnet down in there to pick it out, but I think its aluminum.......

It would be in the pan. If you drained the pan you may get lucky and have it flow to the hole and then you may be able to pull it out with some needle nose. Doubtful, but worth a try.

Pulling off the pan would not be a piece of cake considering one motor mount goes through the pan.

Look for some other advice on this one but considering the oil gets sucked through an oil pick-up tube and strainer I don't think there is too much risk in it getting to the internal engine. Of course if it gets sucked against the strainer I guess it could reduce oil flow.

Good luck anyway!

First things first: get a flashlight and look down the filler neck. There is a chance that it has stuck to the wall of the filler neck. If you can see it, all you need to do is get one of those tool grabber things, and reach in and pull it out.

I had the plastic locking ring on a bottle fall into my PS pump - luckily I could see it, and I used the grabber to pull it out.
