I am sure this has been asked 1000 Xs but where to get a rebuild?

I have just spent a 1/2 hr digging through rebuild threads. Anyhow I keep comming up with why won't my rebuild start and low compression on rebuild and etc. So I will probably get attacked for asking a question that has been asked often, but here it is. Where should I get a rebuild? I want new housings a street port and 3mm apex seals. Where have people been going..? I was thinking maybe Rotary Performance. I was also thinking Pineapple but have been scared off from them as I have been hearing a lot of negative things about them. I saw a bad thread in Good Guy/ Bad Guy. If its true or not I dont know but to spend that kinda $$ I wanna be certain on the shop that rebuilds it. I dont want to spend big bucks on a shop that has been said to have built shady motors. So please tell me 1st hand experiences if possible. I think my motor is toast and I am looking at getting a new motor and I want one that can take some abuse and last. By abuse I mean drag racing at the track. The motor needs to be able to put up with the BNR stage 3 and my mods listed in my sig.
Thanks for you time.

Ok thanks for posting those 2 places, have you known anyone who has gotten a motor from either of those 2 places? I know places to get a rebuild but I am looking for a place that is gonna give me what I pay for. If I spend around $3k on a motor it better be a good motor. JacobCartmill I belive is the correct name seems to be having problems with his atkins. So once agian a bit scared. Here is some I was considering. Rotary Perfomance, Rotor Sports, Marvel Speed, maybe Atkins or Pineapple they are not out of my selection yet but the negative things I have heard I dunno. Like I said for me $3k is not pocket change so I do not wanna be posting on here later on how I got burnt. I want a solid motor built by a shop with a solid rep. So anyone who has a positive experience with a shop, lets hear your experience. I am tired of seeing the negative who has gotten a great rebuild that was built right and can hold up with my current mods.

Ya I have heard about Kevin, does he do what I am looking for though? I thought he just did kinda a budget rebuild. I am tired of pulling Jspecs LOL. I want a motor built. Built to handle the BNR stage3 and possibly a 100 shot of N2O. As until my motor went I was looking at a Nitrous Express plug and play nitrous kit. I was looking at RX7.com and they say if you plan on putting more than 350RWHP out that you really should have the 3mm Apex seals. They say the 3mm can take a little more abuse and a little more detonation which can somtimes happen when tuning or tuning mistake is made. So I will check kevins site out. If he can get me the motor I need and save me some coin hell ya I would consider it. I just dont wanna pull a motor every year, and keep throwing $ away, its gettin old all ready LOL.

I had him build an engine for me and I plan on running a total of about 300-320 hp with it done with the equivelent of a BNR stage 3. Full standalone 720cc injectors. No nos. He will use whatever seals you ask him to use, however he doesn't do any sort of porting beyond streetporting. He's also using whatever parts you supply him with (as long as they are usuable), so the better the parts, the better the motor. As long as you send him the parts ready to be assembled he'll build the motor. He's not providing a warranty for anything thats going to be abused like an engine that's going to take a 100 shot of nos, simply because high performance is just not what he's setup for.

Ya thats why I have been kinda leaning to someplace like Rotary Performance. Or Rotor Sports also says they build motors for high boost and NOS applications.

If you read my very 1st post you will see I searched. However in my search I read through a lot of B.S. of threads that happen to have the word REBUILD in it. Such as Rebuild wont start and so on. Thanks for the suggestion though. Anyway what about a Mazda Reman..? They come with 3mm seals now. Anyone try them?

From the experiences that I've heard from people here on the forum, this is a list from popular rebuilds places and their quality:

Pineapple, Atkins, Kevin Landers, ClubFC3S.org, and then a Mazda Reman.

I've been keeping really close notes on rebuild places for the past few months because I'm going to need one too, and those are the most popular.

Ya I looked at club FC3S.org and they said that at the moment are no longer building motors and they have been getting the Mazda Remans..? Did I read that correctly?

Could be true, but Mazda Remans are not as good as I've been told.

Best bet is go with pineapple if you want performance; kevin landers if you're on a budget; Atkins for quality.

Ya I want quality and performance LOL. Money is a issue but not a big one. I just want what I pay for. I am tired of swaping motors. I want a motor that is gonna last which may be hard to find with my mods.

Looks like Madrx7 and Zero don't read threads.

He already stated he searched.
He has already discussed Rotaryresurrection.

---------------------------------
I have a rebuild from Kevin.
I haven't gotten stuff fully tuned/driving yet but it seems good.

It has 8 miles on it so far and I have 65psi each rotor face and 90 cumulative. Typical kind of for a rebuild w/ only 8 miles.

Like Kevin stated he doesn't do high HP engines. He does more reasonable engines.

I don't doubt my block can handle a 300 hp turbo though. I plan to drive mine for a while on the stock turbine then go to a bigger 300hp range one.

The internals are pretty strong for what they are.

3mm seals are debatable. Most say it is for the people which can't tune their cars.

I know guys w/ 400-570hp still running 2mm seals.

Just learn to get the thing dyno tuned into correct afr's before going WOT.

Pretty much I would consider who ever is some what close to you.

Shipping sucks.
I'd say Kevin or Pineapple for you.

I don't have exp w/ pineapple though.

Like said above if you supply the parts to Kevin he'll help you out.

New rotor housings are going to cost $$. Then it's what ever else pops up when they build it.

Kevin was great for me. It turned out my Jspec's front rotor and plate were toast so he used some he had plus some $$ for them.

I might add to give a try to the new Teflon O ring for the coolant seals. I heard about them right after my rebuild. They sound like they can withstand some more abuse meaning longer lifespan.

Pretty much just give these guys a email/call and see what they think you should do.

I wouldn't go with the No2. Turbo and nitrous can make some messy stuff.

BDC does rebuilds and he'll do the partial bridge for a price

New housings, you do realize the cost for those alone to go on top of your rebuild price correct? That's like what an instant 1000 (500 a peice). Add the cost of milling out the rotors to accept the 3mm seal, ect. It's getting real expensive really fast. The quote that BDC gave me with a partial bridge is very enticing to send my motor to him for the work, and well quite possibly will be done soon enough

Ya I like RX7.Com they suggest a 3mm apex seal as thats what they were running in their 9 second 3rd gen. They say that the 3mm can take a lot more abuse.
Has anyone ever gotten a motor from Banzai Racing? I checked them out to. Ya I know new housings will add to the price, however it sounds like it may be worth it. Atkins now puts 3mm in all their turbo motors as standard procedure. Anyway thats what I got from their site as does the Mazda Reman engines. Rotor Sports has decent engine for $3300 with new housings, 3mm apex seals, and a few other upgrades. Their price is very compretitive with RX7.com.

As far as I know, BDC doesn't have a website. I would just PM him. From what I hear, he does some great stuff and stands by his work. I'm considering using him when I need a rebuild.
