Hybrid TID dimensions

I have a BRN Supercars stage 4 hybrid with the optional to4 compressor housing.
So I have to do the TID mod because the stock one no longer fits.
I'm going to make my own (home depot style) following the 1300cc.com how to.

But I dont know what size the hybrid turbo is. I think its 2.5 or 2.75 because the stock s4 turbo inlet is 2".

I'm going to use 3" abs so what size reducer do I need?

Anyone done this yet?

Ed

talk to Chris Sanders, he makes some real nice polished units. He's usually selling them on www.thepartstrader.com or do a search for him on here.

My turbo is 3", not sure about yours though. Also, it kind of sucks. I got a 3" ID silicone 45 degree bend. Thing is it fits on the turbo fine, but the AFM is larger and would not fit for anything. Now mine is super ghetto with larger rubber one connected to the silicone one and then to the AFM. Works though, so it has to do until I go standalone.

the piping I found is measured by ID
so I need a reducer from the piping off the AFM which is bigger than the turbo inlet like ryde said

I'm trying to figure out what size reducer people have used.

1SxyRXy do you have a hybrid turbo?

If so what size reducer did you use?

Stock turbo uses 3" to 2" reducer for home TID.

Yeah I probably can find it
BTW thats a good idea using a civic one I think I'll go to Kragen and buy one and use that.
Then I just need to buy the coupling that matches my hybrid inlet and a coupling for the AFM.

Has anyone done the TID mod with a Hybrid turbo?

Hardware stores only sell 3" to 2" reducers and 2" is to small for my hybrid inlet.

Where can I find a reducer that goes from a 3" pipe (civic metal intake like 1SxyRXy's in the pic) to the size on a hybrid turbo?

Nevermind I found some sites that have lots of silicone reducers.

Still curious if people have done tid with a hybrid though

I told you I have man. I had to go to a hose company and buy a silicone hose. You can just buy them online, but they are pretty expensive for what your getting.

I know you did but what size reducer did you buy?

I think it's a 3" ID to 2.75" ID reducer. I measured the turbo inlet on my hybrid and the OD is around 2.75.

What's your setup like ABS, PVC, or Alum.?

I didn't use any pipes at all. I had to make one real quick to be able to drive my car home from the shop and never changed it. I used a 3" silicone 45 degree coupling. Then I took a 3" rubber hose from home depot and put the silcone one inside it and tightened it down. Then I put the home depot one on the AFM and the silicone one on the turbo. I didn't have room for any piping or anything and I've never had any leaks. Might be able to get a pic if you really need to see ghettoness.

step one. measure the OD of the turbo inlet...

step 2. buy some 3" car piping. (mild steel, alum, SS etc)

step 3. go to local rice / car shop. (probably the same place as step 2) but a 3" silicon coupling to go between pipe and AFM. buy a 3" to x connector. where x = answer from step one. to go from turbo to pipe.

it's not hard...

So your turbo OD is 3" huh.
Mine seems smaller than 3".

Did the 3" coupler fit snug on the turbo or did you have to crank it down a bit?

I know it's not hard man.
I already measured the OD of the turbo inlet (I already posted that) Step 1
I already bought the alum pipe. Step 2

Step 3 I'm just asking him what size his turbo inlet measured because mine was not exactly 2.75 and I dont want to order a 30.00 reducer that doesn't fit correctly.

Thanks anyway

Mine probably isn't quite 3" either but a 3" coupling slides on easily and a hose clamp tightens on fine.

the silicon car connectors are measured in ID. so if the OD the turbo is 2.75. then you need a 2.75" connector. unlike plumbing where it's way off.

car piping is meausured in OD. so a 3" pipe is 3" outside and a 3" connector has an exact 3" hole to slide over.

is it even connected to the TID? I can't tell from those pics. looks like the metal pipe is just shoved inside?

Your tid looks good to me.

Scott 89t2 yeah I figured I needed a 3" to 2.75" reducer to fit on the turbo inlet from the car piping I bought.

Just seeing what others had used on their hybrid tid
