Cool hybrid or full turbo upgrade?

well im not sure what to do, just got a streetported rebuil motor. i was gonna go with a hyrbid BNR stage 3 turbo, but my brother just gave me a free exhaust manifold and tial wastegate so now idk wether to go full or just get a hybrid.
i want maybe 350-400rwhp but the car is a DD first and foremost, i would like to take it to the track maybe once a week and run it.
im planning on runnig 720/1600 injectors on either turbo, haltech, devils own alky kit, and fmic.
what do u guys think?

sounds like a good plan. The biggest trouble you will run into with a full turbo upgrade is the availability of turbo manifolds. Besides the $1000+ nice custom ones from A-spec, There's really nothing out there except the cast iron HKS and Greddy ones. I have the HKS undivided log manifold. It's reliable, it gets the job done, but it's not the best for spool or boost control. Your other option is install a turbo manifold designed for an FD, and use a header flange as a spacer to make it all fit.

If you put together a full turbo upgrade it's going to take way longer than just bolting up a hybrid. You will need a custom downpipe and oil lines (possibly coolant lines as well). You will need some custom work on your intercooler piping. I just went through this whole deal and I would say you need to expect the car to be down for a few months. You always end up dicking around looking for parts and stuff. On the other hand, you have way more room to grow. A ton of turbos can bolt up to a T4 manifold, and with that fuel setup you can flow over 400whp which may be possibly but is definately unlikely on a hybrid (and definately not a stage 3).

EDIT: you say you got a free manifold. Which one? you still have to do custom stuff to make it all work together.

it was on my brother RE motor. not sure which brand but it looks like this one
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HKS-T...spagenameZWDVW

but his is rusty hehe, he also gave me a tial wastegate he bought, i think its a 50mm.
the fmic isnt installed as of yet cuz its a universal unit. and the car will prob be sitting for another month or so.
i spoke to my engine builder and he says the motor should be able to handle 400, its also pinned (2 extra dowel pins).
how hard is it to make custom coolant and oil lines?

i just swapped my heavily mod'd s5 turbo for a nice turbo kit and am very happy with the results. I would reccomend having your kit picked out and built before you put the car in the shop. That way, you'll only be out for a week or two. My swap went VERY fast.

Although my s5 turbo wasnt a hybrid, it was far better than stock. The problem is, it's still pushing through the terrible stock manifold.

i went with the Turblown manifold and the quality is FAR better than the A-spec... (I've seen 2 or 3 of those crack.)

before it was coated

Some of the custom lines...

are these turbos oil cooled/and lubed?

Well I will be going hybrid, but if you don't mind being on your feet a little longer why not upgrade the turbo? You're gonna DD this right? T4/T04 why not?

Is your brother parting with anything else? Haha... seriously though.

All turbos are oil cooled/lubed, some are not water cooled though. If that manifold is from a RE there is a big chance it won't clear a TII LIM. If you want a great turbo for 400 hp look into the GT35R. It's ball bearing and a Garrett so it's better quality then the journal bearing Master Power turbos you have been looking at, of course it's gonna be more expensive though.

Is that to say that LIM of T2 and exhaust mani off of RE won't work? How about vice versa... Cosmo intake being cleared by a T2 exhaust manifold.

like I said I prob knew the answer I might pick it up and just redo some of the welds with a TIG if that is the case i might just do a hybrid for now the BNR stage 3 is good for about 300+whp right?

I believe the stock turbo's hot side is too small for 350-400hp. Go for a full turbo upgrade.

I put down a little under 350WHP on a very conservative tune with my BNR stage 3

Turbo will hit, hold the 13bt and 13b-re lims next to each other and you will know why.

yes, but it would suck. hard. the -re intakes ports are HUGE. the stock turbo can barely hold 7psi to redline on a stock port t2, i can only imagine how soon in the powerband it would die out on an -RE.

Answering my own question I guess and anyone else who was wondering if a T2 exhaust manifold would conflict with Cosmo lower intake.

Those flanges look pretty outstanding... and I am partial to the t04 family too.
