Arrow hybrid driveshaft....

im planning on putting a T2 drivetrain in my car soon. i came across the mazdatrix hybrid driveshaft that connects a T2 transmission to a NA differential, buying this would save me from buying a T2 diff and switching it out. the reason im going with a T2 drivetrain is because ive already broke 2 NA trannies and im getting ready to finish my nitrous kit and put it on the car so im gonna go with the T2 drivetrain, i dont think it would hurt anything running this driveshaft and NA diff but i was wondering what everyone thought...

If I ever get around to putting a TII transmission in my car that is probably what I'll do. I have the 4.3 rear end since my car is a GTUs and don't want to switch to the 4.1 of the turbo and a 4.3 gearset for the turbo is like 500 some odd dollars. Technically you won't have a whole TII drivetrain with hybrid driveshaft though.Just the front half. The only problem may be with the stonger tranny the rear end may be the next weak link.

You have an open NA diff...why bother keeping it? Go to the stronger t2 LSD diff. Do it right man.

Your cheapest option would be to take your driveshaft to a driveshaft shop and tell them what you're doing. They can just change the yoke on it.

Like everyone else though, I recommend using the stronger, LSD TII rear. I got mine for $300 and it included the diff, axles, and all the brakes for the whole car. There are similar deals listed on here all the time. Well worth it - the extra power will probably destroy your N/A rear, plus you'll go through one tire at a time pretty often.

FWIW, Mazdatrix makes such a shaft.

Do the GXLs have the same rear as the TIIs? I know I have an LSD, but is it the same one?

My tranny is crunching in the cold, and I think a new TII 5-speed might be my next best option as well.

Only TIIs have the TII rear end.

The TII and NA diffs are different sizes as well as the half shafts.

The 88GTU,GXL have LSD NA Diff's. Not sure about specs for S5's.

I have the Mazdatrix hybrid shaft on my conversion and it's doing great.
Pretty much they take one of their replacement TII shafts and just put on the NA end.

You also have the benefit of having a driveshaft which has replacable u joints.

So far I push 180hp and 182tq to the wheels and the NA rearend and driveshaft have help up fine.

Do they sell a N/A driveshaft with a TII end? So you can install a T2 diff in an N/A?

Any driveline shop (and you probably have several within 100 miles) can make you such a shaft. I had my "unbreakable" NA shaft made by a local shop for $300. They used Dodge truck u-joints, greasable and rebuildable. And if I ever break it (unlikely, it's massive) I have local support.
