Ht-18 Reassy

When the time comes to reinstall the turbine wheel, are there any helpful hints on how to compress the piston ring so the shaft can be fully inserted into the cartridge?

The bell shaped dust cover looing outfit seems to be in the way. Jpg attached. A little dark but someone who's done this before will know what the piston ring is.

Yeah. I got that thread from a answer on that other forum. I have it saved to disk.

That really surprised me. I pushed and rotated real hard on that turbine wheel, and while doing so, and it not having effect at all, in my head I was thinking " this is bullshit, ain't gonna work, no way, no how". Then, just as that thought went through my head and I was removing hand pressure, that damned piston ring fell right in place.

So the actual disassy of the turbo is a piece of cake and the reinstall about the same. You just have to make sure the turbine wheel and compressor wheel are marked and reassy back together in the same location relative to each other.

Soooooo, I'm going to order the itty bitty little parts for a C note plus, and have at it Makes me wonder why I never took one apart before. Shame on me.

Use a lot of oil to help is "slip" into place...
I've pushed on it hard sometimes and ended up bending that stupid compression ring.
