Hp versus torque question

I got my car on the dyno last week. I was surprised at the end when i was showing more torque then hp. Max torque was 287 and max hp was 245. Why is this? I was expecting the torque to be lower but maybe i am off. Plus is it normal for an s5 turbo to not be able to hold 14PSi up to 5500 rpms? Boost was dropping down to like 10psi with a MBC. Thanks...

You answered you're own question. If you could have held 14 pounds of boost through redline you would have made a lot more horsepower.

The boost drop is normal, especially on s5 turbo's.

depends on how high you revved during the dyno run hp won't pass torque until you pass 5,252 rpms. however, if the torque peak is significantly higher than the torque at 5,252, then it'll be very difficult to get the peak HP numbers near the peak Torque numbers. and with boost falling off like you described, it makes a whole lot of sense.

max torque was at 3700 rpms and max hp was 5000 rpms. We reved it all the way to 7500 and it was a 4th gear pull.

Can you verify this or are you just telling us what the previous owner told you?
Are you running the stock turbo?

That could be the problem. Apparently it's a V8 missing a couple plug wires to make those numbers.

Back from the grave...

I bought the exhaust used. A buddy of mine that also has the racing beat turbo back exhaust, saw my exhaust b4 i put it on the car. He said that the cat back portion of the system looked a little smaller then what he had put on his car.

The turbo is an S5 one off of a j-spec motor with aproximetly 53k miles on it. I ported the wastegate b4 i put it on there.

Is it possible that there is something wrong with my MBC?

My intake mods are K&N cone filter, 3" TID, TB modification with secondary throttle plates removed, match ported upper intake.

if it really is the racing beat turbo back exhaust... i don't believe there's any other cat back system in the world that would bolt onto it.

I dont see why any other catback wouldn't bolt right up. Its just a header, presilencer and catback...

The parts are of differing lengths and dimensions versus the stock pieces and other RB exhaust products.

It just plain would not fit.

Would a regular racing beat catback bolt up to the header and presilencer from a turbo back system?

I don't think anything else would fit on a 3" full turbo-back system.
RB just recently redid this particular exhaust, so this could've changed.
