well if he has 450whp... you probably need to have a litle more then that... but it all depends on if you guys do a roll or digg...

guy will probably spin his nutts off anyways.

there is obviously not an easy answer to that question, because going faster doesn't rely solely on hp. Start here and figure it out.

To kill in what sort of race?

You'll need much more than a basic turbo swap (as is reflected in your sig) to kill that; rough guess, but I'd say in a drag race, if you're both at stock weight, you'll probably need to push a bare minimum of 350-370hp with great traction.

^+1 to all the above. Depending on the race type and his setup YOu will definitely need more than a regular turbo swap. If it was a 03 With the Terminator Block and Kenne Bell all i would say is BEWARE!!!

Goodyear, Bf Goodrich, mainly any good brand of tire has good drag radials. There is also no such thing to to my knowledge as a good cheap drag radial.

What kind of race?

are any of these numbers dyno proven?

Being a better drive can make a world of difference as well.

400whp should be enough, or at least close (depending on the type of race) due to the weight differences. Cobras are worse for traction than Rx-7's.

Yes they sure are but if he is running slicks or even some good drag radials and can hook well then you better be quick. Its not all about HP as it is a combination of HP and Torque in this case. He has massive TQ and will get him off the line if he can hook well. I dont know your TQ #s. Weight is also a factor.

Assuming his 450hp was rwhp, he has about 337.5 wtq at 7000 rpm.

Cobras are going to be anywhere from 700-1000 lbs heavier than an Rx-7 most likely, depending on if any weight reduction was done to either vehicle.

337? You sure about that figure?

Also, you could've easily found out the answer to this, if you just DID IT!

There were no 2002 Cobras. It is probably an 03 or 04. If you make close to 400 WHP it will be a very close race. That is if you both can drive and get traction. He still may be faster above 120. Cobras pull pretty well on the top end.

Add about 100 RWTQ to that and you will be close.

I think you are right. The OP said that the Mustang had 450.. and then revised to 400. I thought he was refering to that.

If anyone wants to see what would happen for real.. I have a Cobra.
