Yeh...I think it could happen nation wide...10% added to the gasoline...perhaps that not enough to cause problems....

Mine burns it just fine. What ratio of ethanol are they mandating? Stock FCs can run up to a 10% blend with no ill effects. Just watch the price of bacon in your state, its going up.

I don't think 10% ethanol is the cause of any of my problems. I think I've got an ID-10-T error though.

I live in illinois and we have 10% eth here. Runs great, you will never notice it.

Eth burn hotter? I dont think this is correct, eth has less energy and has a higher 'octain' rating then gas. But I think they acutally use cheaper gas that has a lower octain and then mix it with the eth to achieve its final rating.
I'm not to sure, I should ask some of the guys here at work. I work at BP/Amoco.

So what, exactly, is the disadvantage of ethanol?

It doesn't contain as much energy as gasoline and actually raises the price of your fuel since ethanol is in short supply and marked up pretty high ATM.

The RX-7 Owner's Manual recommends no more than 10% alcohol (ethanol) in the gas. Anything above this concentration may damage rubber fuel parts and the catalytic converter. Top quality brands of gasoline have been using 8-10% ethanol in gasoline for years (www.toptiergas.com). You shouldn't have any problems.
