This is how tuff your rotory engine is for everyone who is afraid...

Most should know by now that I got my first turbo and I recomend one to anyone. Its a blast to drive...anywayz for people who are curious about how fragile their engine is I did a little testing...First off I bought this bitchen black 86 turbo with 89 engine and S4 turbo. The previous owner boosted 1 bar or 14.5 psi for 6months with just gutted cat and filter. FCD boost controller and afc , TB mod thats it...it was his daily driver, daily racer putting around 70 miles a dayHe drove like this until he raced it boosting to 1.2 bar when it pinged LOUD..It started smoking a week later. Then He drove it for another month or more and then lit it sit...Sold it to me for 800 and I took off with 2 GALLONS LOW ON COOLAND and 1 QUART LOW ON OIL... FOR 35 minutes or more wile the temp gauge was PAST THE H. Thats right...Then I shut it off...the engine was smoking everywere as well as the tail pipes for 10 minutes.. Anyways a week later I go put 2 gallons even of coolant in it...Know im going to humor myself and try and start the car because I was bored. HOLLY **** the car started right up. Battery used to be dead but know its stronger than my new battery in my N/A rx7. It didnt even smoke for the first 5 minutes of starting...Smoked when it warmed up though.. Everything was fine in first gear , boosted and felt really good (except under 3.5rpm) but in third and fourth it seemed to ping around 5.5-6 and up PSI. Everything the car did when I first took it out it still was doing and thier was no sings of overheating....

This engine is the tuffest engine I have ever seen.

yeah, despite the rotaries relative ease of blowing up, they will run around fine on a blown motor.

I think i would have atleast checked the water/oil before i drove it home, and added the amount needed. I can tell you right now, that when the motor does pop there will be just a handfull of parts still useable. I bet you the rotor housings won't be within specs, the end plates will be terriably burnt. (caused from being over heated.) Oil control rings will be realy shinny (worn out) and all the water seals will be very brittle. (caused by overheating, but no big deal, since you would'nt use them again anyways.)Be prepared because the engines miles are very limited, and numberd. CJ

I'm curious also because your spelling skills are slightly lacking. Maybe spell check will help some

I can help you with a jspec motor. $900 plus shipping for 5 series. Guaranteed to start. If you send me some small parts off your motor I can knock off some money.

Can you expand on that? If that's the case, then why rebuild the motor? Does it drive good for a while and then die, or can you just ride around with a blown motor until you decide you're tired of the smoking? This is not an attack...I'm asking seriously.

S5 engine...S4 turbo and electronics and injectors...S4 coils and external stuff..This was a direct bolt in doing it this way, but if I change the S5 electronics then I guess I will need the alternator , coils, exaust , but what else?

Maththe7man...No prob. Yeah that was pretty funny

Dustin...how many miles..How is compression? exc exc..everything u know.

R1 outcast...Man u have a third gen and asking a sketchy ? like that...I hope the mechanic doesent take advantage of u...Anywayz when u get a blown engine (first sings of smoke) get it rebuilt right away. chances are u will need the minumum amount of parts to rebuild it...Otherwise it should last around six months I hear from people...Mine has been smoking for around two but its pretty much out of commision now. It will eventually lose compression to where it wont start at all.
U can do what im diong and buy used engines and drop them in yourself and save big cash.

DUSTIN---I can also take the engine apart and sell u internalz or whatevers good???
