I'm trying to remove the exhaust housing on an S5 turbo to port it more conveniently. I've loosened the umpteen bolts surrounding it, but for some reason it remains firmly attached to the central part of the turbo. Is this typical, and is it just stuck (i.e. needs SIGNIFICANT encouragement) or am I missing something here? If it needs encouragement, where are good places to pry/hit?

Also, I used PB Blaster on the bolts to help them come loose. They didn't look rusted but damn they were tight. Is this a Bad Thing with turbos (to use the spray stuff) or am I ok?

It's frozen from carbon . Actually it's just slides on the cartridge and you bolt it down. Spray a lot of carb cleaner on there to lossen the carbon. I used a hammer to lightly tap around the housing . By the way, do it on the floor so you don't loose a toe when it falls off
It will eventually come off. The housing is cast iron.

 

Heat it up and it'll pop right off.
