How to remove stock spoiler?

So I've got a nice condition Spoof RE-Amemyia spoiler. Looks good, but I can't figure out how to get the stock one off. there were caps on what I thought were going to be bolts. To my surprise, under the caps I found a pineneedle and rust. I tried to reach under and felt something that felt like a rivet!?

Anyhow, how exactly do you go about this, drilling?

shouldn't be rivets, they should be regular old nuts holding it on.

do all 4 feel like rivets or only the forward 2?

Only the forward two (front). The back I can feel the bolts and nuts when I reach under. When I reach under for the fronts, I find this plastic feeling thing, but don't feel any threads. And if there are supposed to be bolt heads under the plastic caps, they are completely rusted gone.

Somebody could have riveted it back on with one of those rivet guns, you know the guns that rivet?? Sorry I should not type sometimes. There should be nuts and bolts like you were thinking.

well my spoiler came with small screws/nuts in the front locations but i guess they could have been riveted on from the factory, if it is a custom install then someone could have riveted it in place.

sort of, usually they are plastic coated with an aluminum pull.

100% plastic rivets wouldn't hold the spoiler so i doubt they used those.

Under the plastic caps are supposed to be phillips head screws, on mine. Behind those are sort of like plastic nuts you turn by hand. Behind those are plastic clamps you just lift up on. Then you got 2 more nuts near the center of the car at the very back.

When I took mine off it just had 4 studs going from the spoiler into the car and was held on by 4 normal metal nuts. Ratchet took it off no problem.

So I take it the two philips heads are what was originaly in there before the rust. Drilling my only option?

I would try an easy-out tap/screw extractor before drilling if you have one handy. If you don't have one handy, they're good to have anyway.
