How to pressurize fuel rails?

It's a nice day out, and i finally have a few hours to throw at my 87.. I'm going to do the 89+ fuel rail swap.. I have the rail (with 89 bolts), new fuel hose, my injectors, etc.. I hear i'm supposed to pressurize my fuel rails once I get them attached to make sure no gas is squirting out around the o-rings.. How do i do this?

On my 87(I know, you have a 89)there is a yellow plug near the r/h front strut tower(two wires) just hanging there not connected to any thing. Put a jumper wire across the two sockets, turn the car ignition to on(don't start the car). The rail should be pressurized now. Check by cracking a banjo bolt on the fuel rail a touch and see if you get sprayed.

This is on my 87, actually. I found the yellow plug. I had all the hoses hooked up, i short the plug, and i hear the relay click.. No fuel leakage.. BUT! I go to disconnect the fuel hose, expecting some gas to spray out...but it's dry! I even jumper it with the hose disconnected, and nothing.. I should get gas spraying out!

Any ideas?

Ok.. I pulled the inlet line to the fuel filter.. Gas is currently dripping out of the hose.. I jumper the plug, hear the relay click, but gas continues to drip out at the same rate...

Sounds like I've got me a bad fuel pump.. wth? The car *RAN* a month ago, I haven't touched it since, and now the pump is dead. Nice.

Ok..got the pump out.. with +12 hooked up to it, it makes a sad little whining noise..hmm.. Then again, i did have it in air when i hooked it up..

By the way, how do you get the in-tank filter off of the pump?

Yep..ok..my fuel pump is no more.. So, the t2 fuel pumps are a direct swap? Even from an 89+ into my 87? Is there any reason I would not want to do use one?

http://www.mazdatrix.com/c-pump.htm Different numbers but that does not mean they are not interchangable. Translation: I don't know. You've got a good ground on that pump? Probably dead but its a lame idea anyway. You've probably checked that. Oh the filter. Pull the metal bracket with the rubber piece away from the pump bottom. The filter will pull straight out then. The metal bracket for clarification is L shaped and about 10inches long going to the top of the pump assy. Just h0ld the pump in one hand and pull the bottom of the bracket with the rubber away from the pump. You've already done that I think, by now.
