How often should a O2 Sensor go bad???

Whats up guys. I'd like to know how often does a O2 sensor go bad. It seems mine goes bad about every 4000 to 6000 miles. I don't think that sould be the case but it seems the way its mounted is exposing it to the elements more then the stock position. Current I have a RacingBeat Header, RacingBeat Presilencer, and a Apexi Single N1. As some of you know the 02 sensor sits under the car with the Header, what have some of you done to protect it from the usual street driving. Any suggestions from the gurus would be great thanks

every 60,000 miles or so. Yours is probably failing for one of two reasons:
A) your O2 sensor is a cheap peice of crap. Replace with OEM or BOSCH one wire sensor
B) the sensor is fine, and the wire leading to the ECU is corroded/connector is faulty. Try jiggling the wire around, reset the ecu, and see if the error code goes away. If it does, run a new wire from o2 sensor to ECU.
C) the mixture you are running is FARRR too rich, and because of that, creates too much heat. Since the o2 sensor is in direct contact with any elements such as heat, carbon buildup, chances are likely that it will fail very easily.

Try those.

I'm currently running with a Bosch sensor... I'm thinking its either the heat or wiring. I say heat because my air/fuel gauge is always super rich. I've been in the process of moving, so i haven't been able to buy my Safc yet... I'm pretty sure thats what it is. I'm gonna buy a new one and wire it up again.

Thanks

Yeah i was running rich before my rebuild ... now the car runs perfectly. Try cleaning the intake... run some mmo through the gas... if you can, take the entire intake apart and clean it thoroughly. check for vacuum leaks... that sorta ****.
