How much would it be to install an engine then put down a base tune for break in?

I got my engine rebuilt and everything but the shop is saying its going to be around 2k to install it and tune it for break it

Is 2k about right?

Seems waaay way too much to me.

Title edited for a real title describing your question.

DO NOT post useless titles (like "WTF") that don't describe what you are wanting to know.

sounds like a deal to me. Ive spent over 4 times that much on my motor/ecu/tuning.

guess it just depends on who's doing it. in the long run, you get what you pay for.

If you are using stock ECU I think its a little high. (as there is no tuning to be done, minus TPS, timing, and idle..)

But you have to remember supply and demand, you want something, and you can't do it yourself. ( I am guessing you can't do it yourself because you don't have tools or space or something, because it's very simple...) So, you have to pay up....

It's very very very easy to install an engine, do it yourself if you have the room. You will most likely get it done faster and better than a regular mechanic can anyway...

Where in oregon are you located? I could swing by some weekend and install it for you if you want. (I have done WAY to many engine installs for a single persons lifetime.)

Sty - he already has the engine rebuilt, just needs to have it installed and plugged in..

Oh... I misread. 2k seems fair, I suppose, but Tweak is right... it isnt a difficult task, and if stock ECU, no tuning required.

"Base tune" implies this has nothing to do with a stock ECU.
If this is stand-alone EMS, I see nothing wrong with the price.
Dialing in a rebuilt motor is a PAIN IN THE ***.
I would charge that much for that kinda labor.

If you're bitching about the price, why not look for another shop?

If you're that much in a hurry, then why you bothered to post in the first place?
Come back later and put up a proper post when you got the time...
