How much transmission shaking is acceptable?

Does anyone know how you can tell if your transmission mounts are bad?

The shifter on mine bounces up and down at high speeds on the highway, moves to the right when you give it throttle, and generally shakes a lot...but not a terrible amount.

They seemed okay, though... not soft or broken up.

yeah i definately smoked my u joints on my driveshaft and it made a horrible vibration. i thought at first it was just cuz i had poly mounts, but then it broke and made more problems for me. kinda pushed my auto to manual conversion ahead a little bit. Thanks Chris at Banzai Racing. now all i need is a good transmission to put in my car.

My car shakes a little when you shut it down but the engine mounts are fine. I hear a little noise from the tranny now and then.... I think mine is fine. But with all your movement it'd seem like it's starting to get bad.

I don't mean my CAR shakes, I mean the transmission shakes... I know they're going to move around a bit, I was just wondering what is the acceptable standard of freeplay in the mounts.

And no, the engine doesn't move much, if at all, when I push on it...

No clue, I was just giving an example of mine. The only time my shifter does much moving is it vibrates a bit when I'm over 7k RPMs....
