How much space under the fuel tank cover panel

I'm having a spare fuel pump assembly modified to accept -an fittings. I cut out the feed side and drilled out to fit a 3/8" line which we used a -8 weld fitting on. My question is this: The line w/fitting is about 1/2"-1" over the edge of the cover, oriented in the same fashon as stock. Will this run into something if I use a straight fitting or will I have to run a 45 or a 90? The 3/8 line with fitting isn't welded to the cover yet, so this is the time to figure out if it'll fit or not. My car is 2 hrs away, so I can't really run back and check myself. Thanks.

You have about 1" (maybe 1.5") from the tank top to the cover plate.
May be some has the exact dimension?

Yeah, I bent one 90 into it already. Mine didn't curve out like the one in the pic above. Both the return and the feed were parallel.

BTW is the right side of the picture headed towards the front of the car? I can't quite tell.
