Hi guys, I have an 88 rx7 GXL and
I just found out that i will need a new split pipe (or whatever it's called, the one that runs from the engine and splits to go to the two exhausts) and muffler and the guy at mazda said it might cost upwards around 800 dollars. He also said that he could get non-mazda parts for cheaper but they wouldn't be as good. Just let me know what you think

 

Damn, that does not sound right. Look around here on the forum, someone is bound to have one. I would give ya mine, but I need it incase Texas decides to do emissions testing!!

I think these are the same thing, you might want to call and check to be sure though.

 

The previous owner of my convertible welded the exhaust manifold & pre-cat cracks. It's a quick fix option.

Most exhaust manifolds crack since the owners don't replace their cats @ 85K like they should. The manifold gets too hot from less flow and cracks.

How much labor did he quote you?
