How much power can NA trannies/rear ends take?
I'm considering just going with an NA for my first FC... It'll be easier to work on/maintain, plus theyre about a thousand times easier to find... (there are now NO tii's on autotrader unless I want to drive halfway across the country)
I've got a line on ONE tii, but just as a contingency plan, I'd like to see what an NA car can do for me.
What kind of power can an NA S4/S5 drivetrain take? Are the S5's any stronger?
I heard 200hp as the maximum I'd want to hit S4 parts with...
Thanks!!!

It all depends on what kind of driving you do.
If you don't LAUNCH your car at 6K all the time, and slip the clutch on hard launches a little, you could probably handle 225+/-
Some people put slicks on their stock N/As and blow the tranny right then and there.
I don't think there is a way to accurately measure this, it ALL depends on the tranny condition/differential condition... driving habbits etc.
I'll tell you this though.
Pretty soon I'll be superchring my car. Hoping to get 200+ BHP maybe more. I'm going to ride out the n/a tranny as long as she'll go.
I personally hardly EVER launch my car. If I do, its not any higher than 4.5K and I like to slip the clutch just a little bit. I'll be doing this when I supercharger my 89 GTU as well. It's not really the power that hurts it... its the torque, and how the torque is applied.
S4 and S5 trannies are virtually the exact same.
